Before he had an automatic weapon named after him, Ken Lobb used to to bring nightmares to completionists like me by enthusiastically sneaking in multiple quests in his games through tease-like ending messages. He's probably the only developer that got away with signing his name in semi-personal ending messages on Japanese-to-USA developed games. It was common for European developers to put really personal ending messages and thanking their whole family (and even their pets), but not so much in Japanese developed games. You'd be lucky if you find a Japanese NES game with credits or using real names even. He produced and/or created Burai Fighter, Low G Man and G.I Joe for Taxan. Did some stuff for Namco and then apparently left for Taito and made the G.I. Joe clone Kick Master (pretty cool game too). After that, he worked on Super Punch Out and then went to Rare, where KLOBB was born. Or maybe he had a company for hire? Because in the only 2 Taxan and Taito games with credits, the same people are credited. Burai Fighter Oh then I'll just have to see that won't I? This was it? And who is this Kal fellow? His name doesn't appear in the credits. Thank you Ken! Low G ManNext! G.I. JoeKick Master

Hmm, most of these were only Western releases, right? I didn't realize they weren't Japanese developed.

What about Magician? Was he involved in that? I never was able to finish the third quest on that one.

Hmm, most of these were only Western releases, right? I didn't realize they weren't Japanese developed. I'm pretty sure Low G Man and the two GI Joe games were developed in Japan by Kid, but they weren't released outside of the US, so it would make sense to have a westerner like Ken Lobb act as a liaison between the publisher and developer, making sure the games' content matched the publisher's needs. Burai Fighter may have been the same deal, but it turned out well enough for Taito to publish it in Japan. Gamefaqs says Kickmaster was also developed by Kid; they say it was also only released in the US, but it was published by Taito.

Isn't Ken Lobb a gun in Goldeneye?

Yes it's the honorable Klobb from Goldeneye, which is what Rey was referring to. Worst gun EVAR, if I say so myself : If anybody would care to know, the gun's real name is the Skorpion. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C5%A0korpion_vz._61(I'm honestly a bit surprised that guns have wikipedia entries now) Yeah, I heard Ken Lobb had a lot of little insides in a lot of games from Rare, but I didn't know about these. Aren't there more examples from the N64 era?

It looks like Ken Lobb worked on marketing for Taxan back then. Bonus trivia: Taxan and Naxat have intentionally-reversed names because they were owned by the same company.
Also, Isolated Warrior was made by KID, meaning they made a good portion of the good-looking NES games that I haven't bothered playing yet. (Although I bought Low G Man, and I'm not sure I can tolerate the frame rate enough to play through it.)

Jesus...I can't believe I never made the connection between Taxan and Naxat. I can believe I never did, since I'm not geek enough to know who either company is.... ....alright, thanks to you geeks here, I know Naxat was behind those kickass pinball games, but that's it edit: *sigh* I suppose here's where I get my geek on(aside from realizing I got notihng better to do on a Saturday night than post at a message board). Kal = Kal-El=Superman=sign of arrogance?

Hmm, most of these were only Western releases, right? I didn't realize they weren't Japanese developed. I'm positive they were developed by Japanese people (since the credits are all Japanese names), but for release only in the USA. What about Magician? Was he involved in that? I never was able to finish the third quest on that one. I'm wondering the same thing. I'll try to beat the game 3 times, but I doubt he has any messages there. I'll let you know if there's any. This was it? And who is this Kal fellow? His name doesn't appear in the credits. Just taking a wild stab here... Ken A. Lobb? Hmm, that does sound interesting.

Damn this hobby of mine. I was determined to find out if Ken worked on Isolated Warrior. I opened up the game in text form and saw no ASCII characters. I had to quickly learn how to make tables and dump game scripts and voila! I found a hidden credits list in the ROM. No Ken though.

Damn this hobby of mine. I was determined to find out if Ken worked on Isolated Warrior. I would assume he didn't since Isolated Warrior wasn't commissioned, localized, or published by Taxan. Check their other games. Also, Ken Lobb was the voice actor for Chief Thunder in Killer Instinct, and supposedly the "Phoenix" move was named after where he went to college. There is a character in Mario Clash named Lobb, so he may have helped localize that.

Well yeah, but neither was Kickmaster. So I had to make sure he wasn't in it.
I'll be trying Magician in a bit. I'll be back in a couple of weeks if I'm not dead from playing that game.
