The Comic Market (Comiket 79) came and went in Japan last month, and I have been searching the net for doujin games sold there. I have found two noteworthy titles, Umineko Ougon Musou Kyoku and Touhou Koumajou Densetsu II.
Umineko Ougon Musou Kyoku is a 2-D fighting game developed and published by 07th Expansion. It is based on the Umineko visual novel series. The game play is pretty tight, and graphics are more impressive than Melty Blood.
Touhou Koumajou Densetsu II is the second Touhouvania. The game has been improved greatly, and the soundtrack is very nice. I highly recommend this one. Here is a link to a page with more info:http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=16753.0
Anyone found any other cool games released there?

Awesome, always glad to see someone taking an interest in Comiket. Sadly none of the mainstream print magazines ever cover it, and internet coverage in English isn't always easy to find. Thanks for pointing these out.
I'm entirely unaware of what went on last month - but if we get a lot of replies I might repost some of these on the blog. Always worth having a Comiket presence.

Crimson Clover saw its full release at C79 as well. It's a pretty awesome vertical shmup, and certainly leagues beyond those lame Tohou shooters everybody's always raving about.

Wow, the second Touhouvania looks like it has actual platforming and level design. It might not be a total piece of shit, like the first one. It still looks like you can fly, but it doesn't look like it will affect the platforming as much.

I didn't get around much to playing Komajo Densetsu 1 due to how many people said it was rough around the edges, but by the gods, the art is incredible in it. Banpai Akira has one of the coolest styles in recent memory.
I have heard 2 is an incredible improvement in every way. I'll probably play it when I can get a hold of it, being one of the only few real hard Touhou fans on the site (though I more am in love with its setting, mythology, and characters than the actual danmaku). It also has about ten thousand percent more Yukari Yakumo and Hong Meiling I think so this already means it's better.

I played Super Marisa World and ougon musou kyoku. Neither were that bad. OMK had some really annoying things about it, but it's just fun to play as my favorite umineko characters. SMW tries to mix touhou concepts in super Mario world, but it's not a SMW hack so it feels like it's missing something. The power ups are kinda silly

Is Crimson Clover made by Siter Skain, the same creator(s) of ALLTYNEX Second? They looks so much alike (expecially the sound effects). If so, it would be an awesome shmup (just like any other shmup made by Siter Skain). Btw, Touhou rules.

Umineko Ougon Musou Kyoku sure looks nice, but don't the characters ever shut up? I imagine it to be annoying as hell.

It can be pretty annoying. Especially the sex noises they make after you've beaten them.

I found another fighting game released at the Comiket. This one is called Hinokakera: Chaotic Eclipse. It is a revision of an older doujin fighting game of which I never knew existed.
The action is primarily 3-D on a 2-D plane, kinda like the old Tobal games. The graphic looks pretty average, but this video I found of the super moves is awesome.
Moves do not get much more over the top than this:

Where are all the Beat' em ups at Comiket (that's not a series parody)? They never seem to make one.
