Something different: If any Chinese speaking guys read this, I'm searching for material (screenshots, boxshots, files) on these games: 戰虎之沙漠行動 末日戰神 (this gives a lot of unrelated results. It's a 90s 3D shooter published by Game Box / 台灣歡樂盒多媒體股份有限公司)
They're Korean games, but released in Taiwan. I'm searching because there's hardly any information on the Korean releases, all my screenshots for them are from old magazines. Google doesn't help much with those two other than the basic release info (and one thumbnail screenshot for the former), but if there are any special Chinese search sites that reveal more, let me know.

Someone found Dunk Kong. Apparently it was released under the name King Kong 10 elsewhere. You can find a video on Youtube, I'm not posting a link since it leads to a download and I have no idea about how this sites tolerates that sort of thing. I found this same link here. But the installer's all in Russian so I'm having trouble with it. Anyhelp getting this to work will be greatly appreciated.

I got it sorta working, though I'm a novice at Dosbox so I think I might be the cause of the game disappearing of the screen.

Good topic! Has anyone mentioned the unlicensed Famicom game, Huang Di? Chinese characters: 黄帝 Based on China's Yellow Emperor? It's an incredibly good platformer. I was wondering if anyone with the reading skills could tell me what the top four symbols on the title screen say? Their pronunciation and rough meaning. Oh, and print them here for copy and pasting. I was thinking of doing a one-shot article for HG101 on it, but would really like to include the full title (incredibly I have managed to find cover art for the bootleg cartridges). Here's a Youtube video of the opening (go to 0.50 for the title): And gameplay:

well I don't know a great deal of Chinese, but I got the title from a Chinese site: äù֮‘ð - üSµÛ / Zhuolu Zhi Zhan: Huang Di / Battle of Zhuolu: Huang Di edit: okay I'm not sure why unicode isn't working properly for me, but you can copy and paste the Chinese characters from Wikipedia if you need them. Also boxart:

Huang Di doesn't look to bad- shame the music seems to keep cutting out when you attack though

Fantastic Taizou! That's excellent. And that boxart is better than I had. Brilliant, that's put a nice spin on my morning coffee. The story behind the Battle of Zhuolu also sounds fascinating. We might have the workings of a great piece here, gentlemen.
As for the sound issues, which emulator are you using, with which version of the ROM? I recall way back when, around 2004 when I first discovered it, ROM sites had two variations of the game. it appears it was revised at some point. Today all sites I've found just have one version... Could it be an older revision?
Or are you referring to the video I linked? I'm wondering if my brain is selectively remembering this, but I don't recall the music cutting out when I play it... Will check later when I'm able to.
But there are definitely bugs in it. The permanent jump thing - I can't tell if it's a bug or a feature. It effectively negates any level design because you can fly at will, with no penalty for doing so. I'm wondering if that isn't a coding error or a timing problem inherent to emulation. Tapping the jump makes it function normally, but the temptation is to hold it down and go flying.

I like how that Gorilla is not only hideous to look at, but also has a basketball for a hand. Now that's the kind of creativity you can only find in a bootleg. Jaysis Christ I never noticed, I thought he was just carrying it around.

Nah, he is just carrying it around. That render has just a really awkward perspective.
