Melty Blood is one of the best fightings I've ever played and one of my favourite that I'm still enjoy playing with my friends. And, of course, one of the reasons I love this game is because it's based on the Shingetsutan Tsukihime visual novel which I also love (and it's one of the few visual novel that it definitely worths to be played even if you hate visual novels). Anyway, the thread is about the latest update of the francise with the name Melty Blood Actress Again Current Code which is include three new characters which look awesome: Powerd Ciel, Archetype: Earth and Neko & Mech. See their gameplay video at this link: www.siliconera.com/2011/05/28/powerd-ciel-and-archetype-earth-in-melty-blood-actress-again-current-code/For the time being it's for the arcades (and to think of that Melty Blood began as a doujin game for PC) so I'm looking forward for the console port.

If you're talking about Melty Blood, there aren't any mistakes in the Wikipedia entry. Melty Blood Actress Again was the latest entry on PS2 (it was a port of the original, arcade version) and Current Code is actually its updated version with extra characters.

I hate to bring nothing useful to the table but the name of this game is utterly hilarious.

I've always found the imbalance to be horrid in this series. But I was playing during Act Cadenza, so hopefully by now it's something that has been tuned a little bit.

Has there been a PAL release? Unfortunately no. Not american release either. I hope now with the PSN/XBLA they will release it there outside Japan.

This is a pretty fun series, I would like to see an article on it someday. For anyone interested in Melty Blood, there is an anime called Tsukihime based around the storyline, and a digital novel for PC. Beware the PC game has some naughty bits.

Do not watch anime before engaging in the visual novel. Fair warning.

The manga based on Tsukihime (licensed in english with the name Lunar Legend Tsukihime) is a faithful adaption which is a must for the fans of the visual novel and not only. On the other hand, the anime have negative receptions. I wish ufotable (the anime studio rensponsible for the great anime adaption of Kara no Kyokai, a light novel from the creators of Tsukihime) will make an alternative anime adaption for Tsukihime.

Man, I recalled seeing some strange character relationship graph of all the Type-Moon characters. It was large and barely comprehensible but then I've never gotten into any of the stuff. But it does make me wonder if that PS2 Fate/Stay Night fighting game was any good.

My main problem with MB is the same problem I have with most doujin fighters: the backgrounds are dull and lifeless. Go play some SNK games, devs. Take some notes.

But it does make me wonder if that PS2 Fate/Stay Night fighting game was any good. It was developed by Eighting and produced by Capcom and we all know how good experience they both have with fightings. I have played Fate/unlimited codes when it first came (the game you're talking about) and for a visual novel-based fighting it was quite good and impressing. I guess I'll play it again with my friends for the nostalgia. My main problem with MB is the same problem I have with most doujin fighters: the backgrounds are dull and lifeless. Go play some SNK games, devs. Take some notes. Dull? They are very detailed and beautiful. Apart from that, fightings aren't about backgrounds with audience on the background or else most fightings like Virtua Fighter, Soul Calibur, Dead or Alive and so on are the worst fightings ever. The point is to make lively, smooth animation in the battle and that's where Melty Blood makes the difference.

I don't like looking at static backgrounds. I like things happening. Guilty pleasure.
