So yeah, I take it we're playing Hybrid Heaven. Still though...Dark Seed would be so much better for Halloween. That, and it's better to try out new games than to go with ones you've already played, guys (it seems a lot of the voters have played HH before) . What kind of adventure game is Dark Seed? Is it the awesome kind where puzzles are solved by pure logic and environmental observation, or is it the shitty kind where you have to try to figure out what combination of the three dozen items in your inventory need to be used in order to comply with whatever crazy moon logic the developers came up with?

I have an SNES S-Video cable, and I think those are interchangeable. Yeah, that'll work fine. The SNES, N64, and GameCube can all share an S-video cable.

A little bit of column A, and a lot of column B. The game does give you quite a few hints on how to progress, but there's a lot of fumbling about trying to figure out what to do. The thing that makes this especially terrible is that you're on a strict time limit throughout the game, so there's very little margin for error. The most humorous part about the time limit is that Mike Dawson has an incredibly strict bedtime: he'll will literally fall asleep right where he stands when 8 PM rolls around. I'm sure you can see why this might be an issue when he's in the Dark World.

I was hoping to be able to hook it up to my hdtv so I could play it from my recliner, but oh well. They do still work on HDTVs, just sometimes gotta screw around with the expansion pack a bit. It's a nuisance but it works.

I was thinking of trying it out on my hdtv; if it's not too hideous/unplayable I'll probably keep it this way (until I get an AV cart my monitor's not really in commission).
Unfortunately, looks like I hit speedbump number one: the game's going to arrive sometime this week. But that doesn't matter, because the limiting factor is when the memory card I just bought arrives. Not 100 percent sure, but it's my understanding this game is one of those that doesn't have a battery backup (this is one of the reasons I hate n64). If that's the case, you guys "keeping it real" like me might want to go dust yours off or hurry up and buy one.
I guess on the bright side, I'm supposed to be out of town Wednesday through Friday, so it's not like I was gonna get much playing in until the weekend anyway.

Hybrid Heaven is this month's winner!
Given not all of us have an N64, and N64 emulation being what it is, I'm hoping someone will post their tips on how to get the game running at its best. Speaking of which, the tips sections works just like it did last month! Submit your tips and they will be added to the first post for all to read.

Do N64 systems sometimes have trouble working at all on HDTVs? I was just advising against an HDTV myself because it usually looks like pure ass. I'd say that for pretty much any system released before the PS2/GameCube/Xbox era, though. SDTVs are the way to go for classic gaming.
Hybrid Heaven does indeed need a controller pak as is typical of Konami N64 games.

Mine works fine on my Samsung; Paper Mario doesn't look half-bad via the original AV composite cables.

So far I've had best results in Project 64 using Jabo's Direct 3D8 plugin. I've tried using the sound plugins from Mupen64, but Azimer's HLE audio plugin doesn't run in the other emulators and the Basic Audio Plugin doesn't seem to get rid of the clicking. Mupen64 just runs so damn slow on my computer. Like, The Witcher slow...

So far Mupen64 Android Edition ran the game's intro fine but with a bit of sound stutter and slowdown.

Alright, activating "Sync game to Audio" in Jabo's DirectSound plugin (can only be clicked when the game is running) reduced the sound clicking almost entirely.
So far the easiest way to win all the early battles was backing away from the enemy till your gauge is filled, and then kicking the shit out of them so they fall over, giving your bar ample time to refill. But I guess you should block enemy attacks once in a while, too, to learn new techniques.

Oddly enough, an OSX emulator runs the game flawlessly. sixtyforce.comIf anyone has a Mac, but not an N64, this is the way to go.

If you have an N64 lying around, you can get the game really dirt-cheap from Amazon. I literally paid only a penny for the game (plus the shipping, which was just four bucks, really). It should be making its way to me soon-ish.

Yeah, I just bought a copy for $4.00 or so myself. Surprisingly cheap, this one.

I'm mostly playing it in an Emulator so I can conveniently take hundreds of screenshots as I go along.
