Without a doubt, the Socotra Islands, located in Yemen, is hands down the most unique looking place on Earth. How so, you ask? Get this: 37% of Socotra’s 825 plant species, 90% of its reptile species and 95% of its land snail species do not exist anywhere else in the world. But it’s the trees that really make the island such a sight to behold. Some of which are so strange in appearance that several of the pics below look like something straight out of a science fiction movie. These trees look more like they're from science fiction than most trees you see in sci-fi productions.

It'd be just like that Twilight Zone episode if a space shuttle came crash landed there with the astronauts unconscious. They would be amazed, fight to the death, and then see an airplane fly over.

The Twilight Zone was such a fantastic series and has aged incredibly well for old science fiction. I really wish modern science fiction television was nearly as good.
