www.hardcoregaming101.net/lastbronx/lastbronx.htmOne of Sega's Virtua Fighter spinoffs, Last Bronx never even reached the popularity of Fighting Vipers, though it was rereleased for the PS2 at least. The PC port still works too, though it ran too fast on my computer, but looks nice...even nicer than the Model 2 emulator, which seems to be a little too dark.

Uh, wow. What's the background on this? Direct to video movie released in June of '97, directed by Takashi Shimizu (Ju On / The Grudge). It's briefly mentioned toward the bottom of the article. You may be able to turn up some moonspeak articles on it using either its japanese name or the product code (VRZF 00368)... never been a whole lot of info on it on the english speaking side of the internet, though Never did bother tracking down the soundtrack (after watching the movie, can you blame me?). Only grabbed this on a whim while I was shopping through a video store in Japan, watched it once, thought it suuuuucked, and it had been sitting in a box for over a decade before I finally got around to capturing it. Didn't realize there was a second video related to the development of the game until years later or else I would have hunted it down when I had the chance.

I was fond of Last Bronx back then, it's the only one of the Sega fighters for Saturn I actually own, though that has probably to do more with the fact that I was content with borrowing the other games from a friend of mine with whom I also had long playing sessions. One thing I didn't quite like about Fighter's Megamix were the not so clear visuals.
I believe you're misquoting the Saturn's hi-res modes in the article though. Max res should be 704x480 for NTSC - I'm not sure about Pal, I'm guessing 704x512. Unless you cut the borders, the game also uses only 448 lines, which makes sense since beyond that it was usually considered overscan back then afaik.

A minor correction: Fighting Vipers only had 8 characters on the standard roster, like Last Bronx and Soul Edge/Blade. Its sequel did touch double digits but that didn't hit arcades until 1998.

Who told you that "Tôkyô bangaiti" means "Last one standing in Tokyo"? "Bangaiti" means an unnumbered plot of land, that is a piece of land outside the formal address system, so the translation might be "Tôkyô Wasteland" or something along those lines.
*edit* Also: "Saboru Zaimoku" -> "Saburo Zaimoku" "Hiroshi Tomiie", not "Tomile"
I'd also prefer the writer not dropping random "-san" prefixes in the text. Japanese doesn't use them the way they are used in the article, neither does English, so it just comes off as being written by a Japanese wannabe or something.
Otherwise nicely written article, though.

I hadn't double checked that "bangaichi" bit - for some reason I'd confused it with "kenkaichi", which I'm not entirely sure is a word, but given loose understanding of the term "kenka", it seemed to make some sort of sense. I've corrected it now, thanks!
(Haven't gotten to the other stuff yet though)
