www.hardcoregaming101.net/kickmaster/kickmaster.htmDeveloped by KID, the same folks as both GI Joe games and Low-G-Man. Like these others, Kick Master is a bit unusual that it's a Japanese game but was never released in its home territory. Slightly unpolished, but still a pretty decent game.

You're never going to write that KID article aren't you? How come the article mentions the game "plays out somewhat akin to Castlevania" but it doesn't mention that it plays exactly like GI Joe, minus the guns?

GI Joe's a lot more open-ended in its level design, where KM is pretty straightforward "keep moving to the right" design, so it's more similar to Castlevania in that sense. Really I'd say it's only similar to CV in tone and aesthetic, because you aren't punished so much for making a wrong move.
I think this is one of the better NES action games if only because of the wide moveset the main character gains by the end of the game. You fly all over the place and beat ass. The hit detection could be better, but other than that, I have a soft spot for this one.

This game clearly uses the GI Joe "engine", the art design very similar and it plays pretty much the same too.
The game has more in common with GI Joe than with Castlevania, by far. I just thought that should have been mentioned instead of comparing it to Castlevania.
