I don't think the graphics are fully finished, though. Yes, hopefully they juice them up a bit before the actual release.

I don't think the graphics are fully finished, though. Yes, hopefully they juice them up a bit before the actual release. I doubt it. Pokémon games are never graphical powerhouses (the 3DS games looked pretty good, but had massively dipping FPSs with the 3D turned on). Besides, it looks about on-par with Let's Go, and looks fine for a Switch game. But then again, a lot of Nintendo reveals look kind of bland compared to the end products.

(the 3DS games looked pretty good, but had massively dipping FPSs with the 3D turned on) You don't even need the 3D turned on, just not own a 'New' 3DS. I never play in 3D, and Pokemon Moon still absolutely crapped itself every time a fight was more than 1 vs 1.

Who's excited for Pokémon Sword/Shield? I certainly am, but the starters look a little meh. Grookey (Grass Chimp), Scorbunny (Fire Rabbit) and Sobby (Water Lizard) all look a little bland in my opinion. Going to go with Scorbunny though. I don't think I've ever picked a fire starter before. A little bummed that random battles are returning but also not surprised. The graphics are way worse than I was expecting for the Switch's big all new Pokemon, it just looks like a spruced up version of the 3DS games. The Switch can do much better I'm sure, this reeks of flat out laziness and cheaping out. But at least it does look way better than the 3DS games and the theme this time is really cool. One thing to consider is that less intricate graphics also use less battery power assuming it's programmed well (which shouldn't be a problem in this case). People complained a little bit about the simple graphics in Let's Go, but it also absolutely sipped the battery.

Continued Dark Souls Remastered after a little break from it.
I got through part of Tomb of the Giants (lucked out and found a lamp), but stumbled across a difficult enemy, so I just decided to go back to those two archers in Anor Londo. Lucked my way through that (still not sure how), then got stuck at those two assholes. I just caved and got Solaire to help me. It seems to me the fight is too hard for first time players to survive alone (or maybe I suck). Since Solaire shows up right before the fight to tell you he has your back, it seems like the game wants you to summon him. But on the other hand, the fight is trivial with Solaire by your side, so it was just never a good fight in my experience.
Anyway, got the big salad bowl from the big lady with the big cleavage and made it through the archives (I don't know where the other two yellow doors where that the cutscene showed), which was really cool. Didn't quite understand the deal with the record player and those Pisacas, or why the snake people fled from them (?), but it was nice to have some ambient music instead of silence. For one thing I don't have to hear my neighbor's hip hop music while I walk around some dark cathedral, and also I keep getting inappropriate songs stuck in my head (christmas music also doesn't really fit).
Then I died after a sign said there was a path ahead in the crystal cave (there wasn't).
I also started Castlevania: Rondo of Blood and it's very hard.

I'm still kind of bitter about the 3DS. I really want to play those games but I just can't deal with that oily screen.

I love Scorbunny but I'm Team Grookey all the way.
I just never seem to go for Water starters.

🧀Son of Suzy Creamcheese🧀 I bought a New 3DS XL (SNES Edition) not long ago and I ended up returning it because I just couldn't deal. It might be because I'm so used to my DSi XL or it could be that it actually was defective, but both screens had this kind of shimmery, oily look to them that I hated. Also the display just seemed fuzzy and soft and I didn't like that either.
But I'm also the kind of person who gets annoyed at choppy compression on DVD's that nobody else seems to notice.

But I'm also the kind of person who gets annoyed at choppy compression on DVD's that nobody else seems to notice. I know exactly what you're talking about. My original DS as it aged got that, then I bought a DS Lite in 2015 that was supposed to be unused but the bottom screen had that same weird greasy filter, there's something they put on the screens that get discolored over time. Nowadays I just emulate DS games, you lose the portability factor but it at least doesn't have the greasy filter.

See my DSi XL didn't have that problem. Still doesn't. But the 3ds XL was like that right out of the box.

It's got be some protective filter they put over the screen to prevent damage from touching, but it doesn't oxidize well or something. I'm glad to hear someone else mention it because I wasn't sure if it was real or if I was just crazy.
