Knowing that it only goes to Midgar is giving me a bit of pre-order remorse. At this rate, it might take like 3 episodes just to get through disc 1. Might as well wait until they finish the whole game, and sell the Super Memorial Deluxe 30th Anniversary edition with all DLC content for $29.99. At the rate they're going, 2027 is a little ambitious. 35th anniversary in 2032 on the other hand... Lord knows what kind of devices we’ll be forced to play on by then. I’m not fighting Sephiroth on my iMind BrainX Pro, that’s for sure.

This is getting hype and praise from what I see online, but count me in the camp of just not liking the direction they went with the character designs here. The original designs were meant to be stylized and anime-like. I sort of expected them to simply render Tetsuya Nomura's original designs more faithfully in the remake. Instead, it feels like they tried to take the original designs and render them like they render characters for modern Final Fantasies. The semi-realistic look just doesn't work for these characters, imo.

llj They all look like K-Pop idols in TV dramas. Not a fan either.

But isn't this the prevalent style Square has used to depict FF7 characters since the Advent Children movie? To me it didn't come as a huge surprise they continued that trend, trying to play it safe at the cost of creativity.

We are talking about a franchise that had a famous Visual Kei singer play the main character and have his music in the game. The FF7R character model change shouldn't be surprising at all.

While I do like the graphics I must admit some things stand out in an odd way with this new ”realistic” design. Like Clouds haircut for example. It would take hours each day to style a hair like that IRL, not to mention how quickly it would collapse with all the physical activities and fighting Cloud has to go through on a daily basis.
I never thought about his hair like that in the original, but now when you can see individual strands of hair it looks both ridiculous and highly impractical. He must bring gallons of hairspray to Midgar.

Keep in mind, word at Shinra corporate was, Sephiroth required whole bottles of shampoo and conditioner to maintain his hair -- Crisis Core.

Which version are you playing? NES original. Wow, that's quite some hardcore gaming. Good look.

If only I didn't stop caring for Munchkin after having played through most of the expansions and modules from 2004 to, I think, 2011. I even have at home the overly complicated Munchkin Quest board game. Now I can't stand that game and its (lack of) rules anymore.
What are some things that you forum people absolutely loved and after years made a 180° about them?

Looks like Totaka's song is indeed in the Link's Awakening remake.

It actually looks surprisingly nice, at least parts of it. But playing Castlevania on a touch screen? No thanks. This franchise passed away in 2009-ish IMO, so I’m afraid I’ll pass, yet again. EDIT: I also wish they’d do something new with these remixes. Vampire Killer in particular has sounded pretty tired since Castlevania Judgment and this sounds like it’s pretty much the exact same version. Dunno, can’t put my finger on it. Something’s just lazy about it. Compare it to how it sounds in Circle of the Moon for example - super catchy and with a nice punch to it.

I'm a sucker enough that I'd get it for PS4. Not a fan of playing action games on a smart phone touch screen. Another Harmony of Despair type cash-in. I would love to be able to play with friends again.
