Finally got to the end of Sora's story in re: chain of memories. It's frustrating that the end onslaught of tough bosses was actually a lot of fun proving there's a decent enough combat system here, it's just marred by how many random battles there are between them. On to riku's story now and I'm setting that shit to easy as I want to move on and heard his mode is a real ball buster.

I wonder how many previously exclusive Stadia titles we're going to end up with.

There's only five total exclusives and that makes the third to get a port. The only two left are Outcasters and PixelJunk Raiders. The former was announced as dying with the Stadia and the latter is officially looking for a publisher to pick it up which doesn't seem to have happened.

Oh look, Journey's finally on sale at 85% off. store.steampowered.com/app/638230/Journey/Of course you know that means it's going to be a free giveaway on Epic, or at least slightly cheaper in a Fanatical bundle – but eh, I guess I can gamble the price of a big cup of coffee to stick it in the backlog.

Absolutely adored that game and kind of annoyed I put it off because I found Flower to be over rated pretentious crap with awful motion controls. I wouldnt keep it on the backlog. You can beat it in a long evening.

Picked up Minishoot Adventures, which is a Zeldalike take on a twin-stick shooter. There's an overworld, dungeons, caves to explore, heart pieces to find etc. I'm fairly early and the combat is quite introductory, but the world is keeping me engaged, since like classic Zeldas it is densely packed. The secrets are nicely hidden so I'm finding it pushes me to learn the world layout well; there's lots of hints of places that are currently out of reach. It's really nice stuff for anyone who wants more out of a twin-stick shooter, or perhaps looking for a fresh take on a Zeldalike. There's a demo so check it out if you're interested.

Picked up Minishoot Adventures, which is a Zeldalike take on a twin-stick shooter. I was going to say, "Isn't that The Binding of Isaac"? But of course there's no overworld there. Looking at the trailer reminds me of Engage to Jabberwock from Platine Dispositif. Whatever happened to that one..? I guess the developer wanted it scrubbed from the Internet in favor of Dicing Knight for the Wonderswan. I remember enjoying it and being annoyed that I couldn't find the full version. It had a certain air of mystery about it.

jorpho - I don't think there's much in common with The Binding of Isaac. Minishoot Adventures is an exploration driven adventure, whilst Binding puts combat first and is a roguelike. Personally, I don't really enjoy roguelikes - or at least action based ones, so I don't get much from that one. I'd say the appeal is quite different.

On to riku's story now and I'm setting that shit to easy as I want to move on and heard his mode is a real ball buster. It's really difficult to go back to handheld games for that exat reason. I enjoyed CoM back in the day because I could easily play it in spurts due to how easy it was to know when you would approach a major story beat, since so much of it was just base combat and exploration. Trying to play a game like that in a prolonged sitting is way more difficult now, had a similar problem with the Kurohyou games (though they have the added issue of the fantastic battle system requiring you to slow down and choose your moves carefully, which is great for one on one fights, but not so great for Like A Dragon style street brawls, even at a smaller size).

These are always so boring to me, but this one was a smidge more interesting than usual. I mostly came away interested in Valley Peaks as there aren't enough first person platforming games. It's a tricky combo to get right but it can be fun. Stitch was okay as an Apple Arcade game, but I think it might be a tough sell as a purchase. Yars Rising looks okay, but I really question why it's attached to Yar's Revenge whose influence barely rises to the level of an easter egg based on the trailer.

Oh, God, I can't bring myself to watch another one of these. Or worse yet, listen to the narration explaining basic video game fundamentals. These videos always make me wonder who Nintendo's marketing department think the audience is for a promotion like this.

Yeah I never actually sit down and watch these in their entirety and just skim to see if anything is interesting which is usually like 1 or 2 things.
Guess I'm happy Anton Blast has a release date finally. Feels like I've been waiting on that one forever.
