www.hardcoregaming101.net/zoom909/zoom909.htmOne of the true proginators of the Sega super scaler games, like Space Harrier, it almost totally blows away all of the other games of the era, graphically. I always wanted the Atari 400 port of this game, just because of the cool cover artwork (and, as a kid, it was the first time I'd ever heard of Buck Rogers.) The first time I ever actually played it through was at PAX East last year, where they had one of the cabinets in the retro arcade. Like some other Sega games (such as the much-later Die Hard Arcade), it's only a licensed tie-in for the American release, with the Japanese version known only as Zoom 909. The games themselves are otherwise identical, beyond the branding.

I remember playing the PC version back then. Even as a six-year old I thought this game was horribly horrible. Yet I always wanted to know what happens when you reach the space station, but I never got past level 3 or so.

Wow! As I've only ever played Zoom 909 and Buck Rogers: Planet of Zoom on the MSX, I never knew that they were connected. Thanks for the article!

Zowie, I missed this entirely up until now. Around ten years ago – back before the arcade version was even emulated in MAME – I wrote up an article about the ADAM version for the old Classicgaming.com , but this one is much better.
I can't quite figure out what "gate parcours" is. Gate parkour, maybe?

Oh! Looks like I used a French word that didn't quite make it into the English language in the same form again. Simply "course" should be enough in this context.
EDIT: I think "slalom" is even better.

Looks like the MSX version developers redrew the ship sprite to better resemble the starfighters from the Buck Rogers TV show. I wonder why they bothered, when none of the other versions did. Still, it's nice to see.
