Weird as it sounds, I actually find Namco's late-80's/early-90's arcade output to be really interesting, even if not as well-regarded as Sega's. I'm a particular fan of Finest Hour, their side-scrolling mecha action game that happens to be loaded with references to songs by Rush (stages are named things like "Distant Early Warning" and "Red Sector A").

After I'm done with assorted Sega and Konami volumes, I'd really love to put out a book on that era of Namco, too. I agree, a lot of games in that era were fantastic, though the arcade versions don't seem all that well known outside of Japan. They were also in a weird spot, in that they had a feud with Nintendo at the time, so all of their ports came out on the PC Engine and Genesis. And of course, a good chunk of their PC Engine games weren't localized, outside of...Dragon Spirit, Ordyne, Pac-Land, and Splatterhouse?

If you're planning on doing an article on Mirai Ninja let me know, I've got a shitload of screenshots from both the movie and game that I was going to use in a 1:1 comparison.
Also, didn't Final Lap come out here as well?

The upper-rightmost image (presumably the soundtrack cover) appears to be mislabeled as "European Master System Cover".

Also, didn't Final Lap come out here as well? It did. Final Lap Twin getting a port to the Turbografx-16 which had a quest mode which was popular in Japan at the time, and really needs an article. Unopened copies of the game are common enough to be cheap on Ebay, I just purchased one for like $20.
