I had some fun with the C64 version of this when I discovered it among the pile of games I got when I was a kid. The Atari-8bit version I later tried under emulation left a rather bad impression on me, mainly due to the flickering.Perhaps it was an emulation issue. The DOS port seems a bit of a mystery, but it looks like the question is more wheather the one shown in the article is official, not if one exists. You can download that version on the web after all.
It's also again found on a retro compilation (Sega Memorial Selection for Saturn).

"Your avatar is the "Baja Bugger," a garish pink compact car which strongly resembles a Volkswagen Beetle" > The first comma shouldn't be in the inverted commas, but mostly the reference to the Beetle doesn't go far enough. The game's car is a Baja Bug, an actual Volkswagen. "Bump 'n' Jump" is displayed "Bump ‘n' Jump" throughout.

Their explanation of how it maybe comes from the printing process seems like an urban myth to me, but thanks for the info.

In the first paragraph, the line "some of which were minimal effort but others (like Galaga) improved the formula" could be revised to "some of which were produced with minimal effort...". Likewise, in the same paragraph, "but did not had too many imitators" should be fixed to "but did not have too many imitators."
In the second-to-last paragraph, the sentence "The music isn't particularly good - it attempts to match the arcade version's upbeat peppiness but ends up as maddening panic music, but it's nonetheless impressive that the sound effects don't take center stage as in 95% of other 2600 releases" seems a bit run-on, and has one "but" too many for my tastes. Likewise, the next sentence could probably have "but it gets points..." exchanged for "and it gets points..." to improve sentence flow and coherence.
A lot of older games don't tend to translate well as still images, but this game looks amazing. Then again, I'm generally a fan of isometric perspective, since it seems to add a lot of dynamism to the image---though, depending on the game, it can make it much harder to actually play (the platforming sections in Landstalker, for example...just the thought sends chills down my spine).

Not to derail the topic, but nothing can be worse than that "climbing the tower" sequence from Dark Savior, where you have to jump upward from moving box to moving box, around the outside of a building while under a TIME LIMIT. I mean, I liked Dark Savior, for the most part, but that was straight up BS.
