I saw youtube clips of it. It looks fun but for me at least, fun in that "15 minutes of fame" way.

It also got positive marks from Gamespot and 1up.
Looks like a fun game from the video clips that I've seen, but more in a "rent first" kind of way.

IGN are just trying to be provocative People always complain that they give high scores to everything, so they chose some game that has some hype and give it a really low score just to "show them".
Thier list of complains on God Hand are the usual stupid stuff they say about almost every 3D action game (too much hard, bad camera, too much old school). It's look like a very nice game in my opinion, I'm definitely going to play it.

What an idiot
I Mean he even explained it himself, the games being old school as he put it, games didn't always use to just hand out health all the time just because you *cleared* an area. I'll get the game just to shame the reviewer..at least the Another Take guy covered them by saying pretty much the exact opposite that and the user opinions.

The fact that Okami got a 9.1 at IGN while Wind Waker was given a 9.6 is enough for me fully justify my issues with the site. There are many other examples as well. There seems to either be a distinct, mainstream promo agenda there, or their reviewers just totally suck. Probably the latter actually, though money talks. For example, Need For Speed Underground 2 is not a 9.0-level game. That score feels artificially inflated.
I will have to check out this review to be irritated.

But isn't it possible that someone could think Wind Waker is slightly better than Okami? I for one liked Wind Waker more, and a 9.1 and 9.6 are so close, it really doesn't matter.
As for God Hand, if there are problems with the camera, it doesn't matter that every other 3d brawler has camera problems. This was someone's chance to get the camera right, and they didn't. How long have we been doing mainstream 3d games? So the developers of God Hand had that much collective work to look upon and learn from.
As for the difficulty of the game, it's a little different now. How much of God Hands difficulty is a result of the camera? This is not a problem people had to deal with back on the 2d brawlers. So if you take the difficulty curve from a 2d brawler and try to recreate it in 3d without adjusting for a poor camera, the game can get very frustrating.
Personally, my problem with God Hand (from just looking at pictures of it) is that it just looks so generic and dull. Nearly every screenshot I've seen has you fighting in a gray or brown environment against generic enemies. So I've no interest in trying it. :/

That's the problem, There are many good cameras in 3D action games. But in IGN eyes every 3D action game has a bad camera so I don't really take them seriously. Same goes for difficulty.

haha
Yeah, God Hand isn't exactly a "great" game. I only got to play it for a few minutes, the control is a bit off and the graphics are definitely budget quality. But it is REALLY damned goofy - the silly animation, the surf rock music, the ridiculous attacks you can do, the dialogue...this is definitely the video game equivalent of a B movie. Plus, hey, it's $30, so I preordered it. I guess I'll go into more later.

I'm willing to bet it's at least as good as The Bouncer...I'll probably get it eventually.

I don't even have to look to tell that IGN gave The Bouncer a better score.
Good lord, they gave it a 7.
God Hand? A 3 (the press average at this time is 7.9).
To paraphrase one of my favorite writers (who works for the company that IGN owns): They must be smoking CRACK ROCKS the SIZE of my FIST

silly animations? Surfer rock music? $30??!?!?
THIS GAME MUST BE MINE!!!
And yeah, IGN does have some bloated reviews. DMC 3 was good, but not 9.6 good, nor better than Ninja Gaiden (or Ninja Gaiden Black, for that matter).

I've been playing this all day today, and my forearms are dead...I haven't pounded on the buttons like this in a while. Very fun, though, and I don't think the camera problems are really that bad - you have enough stuff to pound on and not worry about the camera. Plus, there's a handy radar which shows where all the bad guys are, so the automatic camera's not too bad for me at all.
The levels are kinda plain, but I get such a good vibe from the game's characters, crazy setting, etc., that the sparse backgrounds are not too big a deal. Plus, I think it greatly improves in Stage 2...who knows, it may steadily improve as the game goes on?

I'll probably pick this up based solely on the fact that I love beat-em-ups, silly shit, AND B-movies. That, and I need an excuse to replace my long lost PS2 memory card.

I just beat God Hand tonight and there's an annoying thing that happens upon a New Game +. One of the best features of the game is that you can collect and buy new techniques and use them to fully customize your moveset. Unfortunately, on starting a new game, you lose all your learned techniques, super moves, powerups, and money. While everything is unlocked for purchase in the store, you're starting from scratch. The game was a lot of fun, but this certainly makes me much less anxious to immediately replay it.
