So what the hell was going on with Coreland in the mid eighties? They had easily some of the strangest, most surreal output of any developer from the period (i.e. this and Rafflesia). It's almost like they prefigured the whole Yume Nikki/Eversion "creepy retro" aesthetic. I have a feeling it was entirely unironic in a Fletcher Hanks sort of way. Was the team absorbed into Sega, or did they go their separate ways to other companies?

Coreland became Banpresto. That said, I don't think there was any crossover. Banpresto didn't develop anything.

Which makes me wonder... who exactly owns the rights to these titles? Sega or Namco Bandai? Or is it partly owned?
