I'll have to re-read the article more thoroughly but if I remember correctly, the main difference between Radix and Descent is that the latter has fully 3D environments and movement (which results in a more complex, and sometimes convoluted, level design), while movement is more restricted in Radix, watching some gameplay videos makes me wonder if it isn't a 2.5D game.

I actually revised this article quite a bit but I haven't added in the text (it's not officially posted). But you are correct - it seems to be running on a Doom-type engine (if not the Doom engine itself), the 2D maps indicate this. It's definitely a fun, more action-y type game than Descent, because you spend less time trying to reorient yourself and more time actually blowing things up.

Descent is awesome, but yeah, I think the focus on action is why I ended up liking this one better too. Amusing that this shares its subtitle with a yaoi visual novel. That's... weird. I guess I learn something new every day!
