Image Fight is the perfect game to play if you hate yourself. I have an odd fondness for Image Fight. Even though I'm terrible at it. The same goes for X-Multiply. Kind of wish I'd have VC'd Ninja Spirit before all the Irem stuff got pulled down. That's how I feel about R-Type Final on PSN - I held off but now it's too late. And that's the negative side of digital distribution, folks :/. As for Irem, I always liked their Famicom carts from early on - the LEDs were pointless but still pretty cool. Unfortunately, most of their carts were this white-colored plastic and they look like discolored shit now.

I can't contribute much here having only played a few Irem games, but In the Hunt is really great. It's a very nostalgic game for me, but putting that aside it's a blast to play.

Undercover Cops kicks ass. 'Nuff said. But WTF with the Game Boy version? They turned it into some board-game/card-battle/RPG.

You will be much happier that way! I know, but I'd have at least expected something remotely close (at least a side-scroller).

But that's because I can't beat a Gradius game.

Irem as in "I remember them! Oh wait no I dont!" Heh, nice JonTron reference. ON TOPIC... Sucks that they're yet another victim of pachinko, but Irem's always had quite the classics. R-Type I, III and Ninja Spirit are the best IMO.

As for Irem, I always liked their Famicom carts from early on - the LEDs were pointless but still pretty cool. Unfortunately, most of their carts were this white-colored plastic and they look like discolored shit now. It was only used on their first six games (IF-01 through IF-06: Zippy Race, 10-Yard Fight, Spelunker, Sqoon, Mashou/Deadly Towers, Spelunker II). Which unfortunately were not some of their better games (their first non-LED game was the much better Kid Niki/Kaiketsu Yanchamaru, IF-07). I eventually got a non-LED Zippy Race cart as well as the more-common LED. From what I've seen, the LED carts could have EEPROM whereas the non-LED should have MaskROM (as those were a later print supposedly from about 1989). I don't think there's a value difference in Zippy Race, but I've seen there definitely is with Spelunker.
