I'm guessing right now that it has about as much text as FZ, which is practically nothing. Yep, it's basically like the first game except the maps are bigger, you have three permanent weapons you can cycle through, and Masato has more health by default than Mizuki but she is faster and can still jump. You can also move in eight directions now. Seems better than the first, but I almost got stuck on the first stage. But yes, I will also be playing Ikari no Yousai 2, which reminds me a bit of Super C's overhead levels, now that I think of it.

"Mission Complete"
Now to wait for Operation Logic Bomb to arrive...
Note that the final stage has several rooms where you are fumbling around in the dark. Most of these are safe but tedious. Two of the rooms have spikes in them. If you hit spikes in any of the rooms, immediately exit and try another entrance. None of the dark rooms REQUIRE you to go to the spike path in order to find the light switch.
And for both bosses on Stage 4, get beside them. The boss rooms are larger than they appear and give you enough room to manoeuvre onto either side of the boss.

So I discovered an interesting exploit I want you guys to test:
In FZ, going in and out of map screen gives you a temporary invincibility flash. I tried it several times and bullets passed right through me.

InY2 and OLB both have the unfortunate similarity to those overhead areas in that the enemies will do their best to hump you to death, and you have limited room and time to get distance between you and return fire. OLB is slightly better in that you can lock your aim, but most of the challenge I've run into so far comes from enemies chip damaging you to death. That, and the fact that you never know where the health pickups are until after you've found them (and most likely you're going to need them more afterwards). Also I'm about ready to stab out my eardrums from hearing that one song over and over and over and over and over and over.

Just took down Fortified Zone, my advice would be to just play as the dude and give him all the upgrades and hoard as many med packs til the end because the final boss will burn through them pretty fast.

Speaking of the final boss, is it possible to hit his final weak point while avoiding the constant lasers? I was only able to do it by using the exploit or just getting in his face and killing him before my medkits run out.
Moving on to InY2, the levels are more detailed and the sprites are smaller, but the hit detection is still stacked against you. Be as precise as possible when jumping over spikes. Also:
- The Grenade Launcher can kill most things in one shot so far
- If there's any section of the wall between two lines, 99% of the time you can blow it up with grenade launcher
- They royally screwed up the map. Rooms no longer show if they have exits unless you actually take those exits. Good luck remembering where to backtrack.

Just go in between shots, shoot one or two bullets as fast as you can, then immediately dodge out again. Might might or might not be safer to go one step downwards before evading. Only takes 6 or 7 hits with the upgraded gun, anyway, so one spare medpack should be more than enough to bruteforce it.

Yeah, I just tried this, and I broke the game over my knee, pretty much. I seriously don't know how I had so much trouble with this game starting off, because by my second try, I beat it in about... eh, let's say 45 minutes. I really hope not too many kids brought this game along with them on a car trip, because this game is TINY, even for a Game Boy game. At least the bosses look nice, even if the rest of the game is just so incredibly generic.

After Snarboo's hint (just play as Masato and use Mizuki to jump pits or pick up health items) I made it to the last stage without any trouble, but quit because I got depressed over some email.

Okay so I just started Operation Logic Bomb, I was doing pretty damn fantastic until I got to the second real boss fight. The gist of it is you have four protective walls to hide behind when he shoots both of his 3 way spread shots, after he fires those he'll shoot two energy balls that turn into a spread shot and fire towards the center after they hit a wall or go a certain distance. Ended up wasting all 3 of my continues on the bastard without figuring out how to go about his fight.

I'm doing Operation Logic Bomb before Ikari no Yousai 2, and I'm glad it's much better than the Game Boy game. It actually requires some tactics to get through. Some hints from the first two stages:
-Study the shooting angles of the turrets and red robots. Both leave exploitable dead angles, and it's almost always possible to position yourself so they cannot hit you at all. -The blue crab things always shoot a straight stream at the same position. Just stand off-center and shoot at them. -The red crab thing is the first somewhat counter-intuitive enemy. The best tactic is actually to get really close (most enemies don't hurt you just by touching) and stay close to center, then it's bullets should miss you all the time. -There are some spark-like enemies that are very fast and always try to hump you. You cannot hurt them directly but need to shoot out a control console and they disappear. -I've got not much on the first boss, other than you should use the flame thrower, like the cutscenes suggest. It got a bit invincibility time after you take out the firs part. -The golden robots stand still until you shoot at one of them, but then they attack all at once. You should attack them from cover so they get stuck at the wall and cannot swarm you.

I've noticed that those bullshit balls will stop if they hit one of those protective walls, but I can't figure out a way to get him to do that consistently.

I just beat Operation Logic Bomb. It's ironic because that second boss is much harder than the last boss of the game. For the second boss I could beat him, but I still took a shitload of damage - basically, keep him on the opposite side of one of the barriers. As soon as he starts moving, swing towards him so that you're still on the opposite side. Basically keep doing that and instead of ALL of those fucking bullets hitting you, maybe half of them will. Oh, and don't waste your time with flamethrower, it does no damage.
For the last boss, after destroying the baby tanks, don't attack the boss! If you do, it'll fire a stream of deadly shit that will kill you fast if it hits. Instead, drop a decoy to keep the shit monsters busy, move to the edge of the screen, then fire a shot at the boss - you should be able to find a safe angle to avoid its fire. Once you do, fire away until the decoy disappears, rinse, and repeat.
I really hated the last area (although it was trippy, and had cool music) because the enemies blended into the foreground and background, which led to a bunch of ambushes.

Well, Fortified Zone was... short! It didn't help that you could farm medkits in every level past the first. I started off maxing out Masato's health, but over the course of the game, none of his subweapons proved to be very useful. Mizuki's upgraded peashooter and ability to jump on conveyor belts (or over obstructions that were just there for the sake of slowing Masato down) had me using her by the time her health was maxed. Really, the character switching mechanic didn't do much for the game-- it would have worked just as well to have a character select right there at the beginning. Here's to hoping InY2 improves on that. Tried it out for a minute, and everything seems so much slicker. 3 weapons! 8-way movement! Smaller sprites! Faster bullets! Longer game...? Speaking of the final boss, is it possible to hit his final weak point while avoiding the constant lasers? I was using the grrl for that boss, so I didn't get hit by the lasers. Guess it was the movement speed difference. But on a related note, I don't think it's possible to avoid the constant spray of bullets one of the stage 4 bosses barfs out (I think it's the second to last boss, right when he's about to keel over). I thought that was a pretty weak move.

I thought that was a pretty weak move. You can actually, you just have to be off to the boss' side. It helps if you move from one side of the screen to the other before it fires another volley. In fact, most of the boss battles consist mostly of you shooting at them from a blind spot. :p
