www.hardcoregaming101.net/ordyne/ordyne.htmOh, how I should love this game. It's essentially a Gradius clone from Namco, with a cartoony makeover. But it's not QUITE as cartoony as Parodius, so it's not quite as funny, and the power-up system, which is stolen from Fantasy Zone, just doesn't work well enough. It's still okay though, and the music is very good.

I'm not sure where, but I remember reading somewhere that this game was a sequel to Barunba. I've never played either one, so I'm not 100% sure on this. I'll look around and see if I can find anything that can support this.

I thought Barunba came out after this? At least, it came out after the arcade release of Ordyne, maybe?
I also think Barunba was also made by another company, and Namco just published it. I've only played it briefly, but I think I can see some commanlities between then.

I really enjoyed the rotating mazes in this game, it felt great.
So are these recent articles an indication that you're moving forward with a Namco book?

So are these recent articles an indication that you're moving forward with a Namco book? Laying a foundation for one, yes. With a queue of other stuff, it'd probably be awhile before we got up to full speed though.

haha!
To the surprise of no one I'm sure, most updates get posted at like 12:30 AM right before I need to crash and get maybe five hours of sleep so I can wake up for work, so it's usually a "does it pass a spellchecker? ok time to post some Twitter/FB links then collapse"
I think that typo was particularly poetic though!

It's more entertaining when you read it in a fake Russian accent. =P

Most cute 'em ups are strangely revolting to me. Looking at Ordyne, I don't think I could ever enjoy playing it. It's unappealing in a way that R-Type and X Multiply aren't, even though those Irem games are actively trying to gross you out. I don't fully understand why, but maybe there's some difference in perception between visuals that are supposed to be monstrous, and those that are supposed to be cute and turn out not quite right.
There are a few shooters series I do register as cute: TwinBee, Parodius, Gunbird and Cotton (except 100%). Maybe The Game Paradise, too.
