GC9X's first game for 2014 is none other than an installment from From Software's King's Field series. Purported to be the best of the Playstation entries, King's Field III (known as II outside of Japan as the first game was not internationally released) promises to be quite an interesting experience for one and all. I don't know how much, if at all, it's like the famed Souls games, but I look forward to finding out where the bricks are laid out. Possibly atop a mountain of corpses.

King's Field II (Playstation, released as King's Field III in Japan)
King's Field III (キングスフィールドIII?) is the third game in the King's Field role-playing video game series. Like both its successor and predecessors, the game is played through first person view in a dark and mysterious, medieval fantasy setting.
The game was developed by the Japanese game development company From Software, and released June 21, 1996 in Japan, and October 31, 1996 in the U.S.[1][2] Since the first King's Field game was never published outside Japan, King's Field III was released as King's Field II in the U.S. It has only been released for the PlayStation console.
In King's Field III (released in the US as King's Field II), the player takes the role of Prince Lyle Austin Forester (son of King Alfred) as he struggles to uncover the reasons behind his father’s sudden descent into madness and to restore peace to the suffering kingdom of Verdite.
This time around, a large portion of the game takes place above ground, but the main aspects of gameplay remain unchanged: first-person battles, puzzle solving and exploration.
Overall gameplay remained very similar to the other King’s Field games and entails first-person battles, puzzle solving and exploration. This installment is the largest of the first three and contains various tweaks to the game's user interface which streamline controls and gameplay.
