www.hardcoregaming101.net/vampiretm/vampiretm.htmTwo different RPGs based off the Vampire: The Masquerade pen-and-paper game: Redemption, a Diablo-esque hack-and-slash, and Bloodlines, a first person adventure that's been compared to Deus Ex. Except really buggy. This article is pretty thick on the lore, but I also think it's necessary to understand the depths of these games. Consider it a crash course in V:TM.

The biblical Cain is spelled that way, no final E. Bram Stoker, not Stocker.

Bloodlines is an odd duck, to be sure, at times the game is excellent, at other times it's very frustrating and feels slapped together, it certainly could have used another year (or even two) of development time
however the atmosphere is second to none, it truly feels like you've dived into the world of the pen and paper RPG, so it's well worth playing, despite the frustrations
also, this article forgot to mention how creepy the game is, with things like the haunted hotel level and that house with the walls made out of human skin

It's a minor concern, but the "Next Page" link on the first page isn't hooked up right. Of course, the second page link is right below it but I did a double take wondering if maybe the article was incomplete all the same.

I adored Bloodlines, still do - just a terrific RPG - I feel the article is a bit hard on the combat as the races that specialize in Melee/Guns tend to play reasonably well in those roles. There's a minor error in that when the article talks about facial animation it says "2002" rather than 2004 as is correctly listed at the articles beginning.

To be honest, I never liked the notion that a stealth build should never have trouble in a game, ever. As someone who plays a combat build, I have a lot of difficulty during the museum sequence and that one side quest where you have to set up cameras in a model's apartment. Not to mention that I miss out on bonuses from Intimidate and Seduction dialogue. So why exactly should a stealth build have no consequences? And yeah, awesome game overall. To be honest, I actually like it a bit better than Deus Ex. The drastically better writing helps, as does the massive amount of replay value from the various character types. I really need to boot it back up and give it a Malkavian run...

I found a few minor things that need to be fixed in the article, besides what Deadguy and drazon mentioned. In the voice acting paragraph for Bloodlines, there's a period missing after "The voice acting is outstanding". Also, the link to the fan patches for Bloodlines isn't being updated anymore. The new link is at www.patches-scrolls.de/patch/4647

There was a Vampire: The Masquerade game for DOS that went unreleased, developed by Adrenalin Entertainment and to be published by GT Interactive.
