Yeah, I'm not sure why Fallout 2 is on the vote and not Fallout 1. It's been even longer since I played Fallout 1. If I were to pick one of the two to re-play outside of GC9x, it would be the first one.
As for Phantasy Star, I'd probably be up for 2 or 4, but not 3.

EDIT: I just noticed Fallout 2's been delisted from GOG and Steam. And apparently was at the end of 2013. Oops. Now I gotta find wherever I put my disc copy :/ Yeah, that's why GOG put 1, 2 and Tactics for free around Christmas, so that people could snag 'em before Bethesda would make Interplay delist them. Odd they didn't do so on Steam, tho.

I voted for Fallout 2. I tried that game out a few years ago and even though I loved the concept, the open world, and the humor of the game, I just never could get into the combat system so I gave up fairly early into the game. I want to give it another go and see whether I may have judged the game unfairly because it seems like a game that I'd enjoy.

Fallout 2 is one of the sequels where the designers assumed you'd played the original first, which meant they didn't bother making a fair difficulty curve. For the record I think I voted for Fallout 2 but sort of wish I voted PStar3.

Just saying, I own the GOG version for this (and kept the installer), and would be willing to share via dropbox if anybody needs it. I can also post the unofficial patch installer and hires patch, etc.

Why were the Fallout games pulled from GOG and Steam? A licensing dispute, apparently. Interplay (the holding company) used to own rights to the pre-Bethesda titles due to an agreement struck between them before Fallout 3 was announced. That agreement expired recently, and the rights to Fallout are now fully under Bethesda ownership.

Which for whatever reason, they weren't able to renegotiate the rights with GOG because the hand off and I guess Bethesda aren't that interested in GOG's business model.

Oops, meant to post the links when the upload finished. 1) Installer2) Unofficial Patch + Hi-res supportMake sure to install the patch, because it not only fixes some pretty egregious random crash bugs, it also adds support for widescreen, extended view range (with fog of war optional), and etc. Pleeeenty of etcetera to go around.

Woah woah, hold on, before we go installing patches willy nilly - what does the patch change in total. These patches sometimes include gameplay or content changes.

For ease of play and remaining showstoppers the patch seems acceptable (certainly not the Restoration Project though) I am concerned that due to the sheer amount of changes the experience will differ somewhat from early adopters of the original release which is kind of unfair to other games we've highlighted. As long as we note the exact version we played it should be okay.

Err, I'm not usually fond of fan patches unless the game is a buggy mess (e.g. Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines). I'll just be playing the original release, I think. I may also install the High res patch on its own. TO BE DETERMINED Though the voting hasn't finished, I think the chances of anything other than Fallout 2 winning are essentially nil.

I'd go with the standard patches. One time I checked out the restored content patches and it didn't add anything that important to the game and most of the big parts like new locations we're bare or....well, unfinished. The standard game has enough content already.
