Regarding the section of the article on the cartoon, I would say Q*bert was wearing a letterman jacket, not a warm up jacket, both because of the letter on it but perhaps more tellingly because of the whole 50's style mentioned in the article. I suspect there was some sort of Happy Days influence there, as that show was still on and very popular at the time. Page 4: "Parker Brothers was also working" > "were"? Not because its "Brothers", but because it's a company, a group of people; like "the army", "the government", etc. I think singular is actually "more correct", because it's talking about the company as one overarching entity. With companies, I see both ways generally accepted, though. (Maybe not so much with the army or the government. At least I've never seen a sentence like "the government are planing...") That's one of those things where UK and US English conventions differ. In American English you would generally use "was", while in British English you would use "were". And no matter which you use someone will consider you wrong.
