Gameplay! Not much in the way of new information, but it's nice to see how the game plays. From the looks of things, it looks like they basically took MK9, polished it, and added some new ideas onto it, and I'm fine with that. I am a little curious on how the variations will work, in practice, but I hold high hopes for this game.
Also, if anybody was wondering, I think people are calling the yellow meter under the health bar the 'Agility Meter'. I assume it'll have something to do with the interactibles, as well as that MK3-style run Sub-Zero did in one of the trailers.

New stuff! Sorry for the bump, but hey, new stuff is cool.
Firstly, here's Raiden. Like everybody else, he now has three different variations. While all three keep some of the same specials, this trailer shows off what the others do. Storm Lord could be interesting, even though I'm awful with 'trap' characters like, say, MODOK.
Kano! He also looks pretty fun, especially the Commando variant. Hopefully he'll be better than he was in MK9, where he was kind of... not really a great character, to be honest. Also, his X-Ray is one of the many, MANY "the opponent shouldn't be ALIVE" moves that MK9 did in spades. Even more so than jabbing two sharp metal objects directly through their brain, even.
There's also a lot of general info tidbits you can find [url=http://www.thekombattether.com/gamescom/mortal-kombat-x-impressions.html[/url] here, which go into more detail about the characters that the trailers haven't really shown off yet.

It's getting to be about news time, I think. The game comes out in April, so we've had a decent number of reveals since then. Mostly returning people, including some folk who were supposedly dead, but whatever. We still haven't hit 12 veterans on the cast yet, so I imagine it'll be a 12/12 split between new and old characters, probably. So, news: - There's a Mortal Kombat X digital comic you can download and read, up to issue #4 at the time of this posting. It's got some pretty decent art, and shows off a few new characters. Like this dude: I'm pretty sure this guy has to be playable. I mean, that's just way too effort for somebody they're not going to use. Winner of the Most Improved MK4 Character award Quan Chi returns! With 3 unique way to be a total dick to your opponent. Kung Lao and Kitana! Who were dead! But now they're not! (Oh, and Goro's pre-order DLC. Kind of lame they're doing that, but... oh well.) And we've got Reptile, who's... still Reptile, I guess. Aside from that, there's supposed to be a livestream tommorow, so you can expect something there. Most likely Ermac, since Ed Boon's been dropping hints in that direction.

I like the MK9 appeared to be an updated and revitalised classic Mortal Kombat. While X is appearing to push the updated direction further to add more interesting elements to the fighters.

I'm glad there's some new characters. I was afraid that after the ending of MK9 they would have all the MK4 goobers get involved like Jarek and Reiko.

I really should get cracking on buying the prequel (it tends to be cheap here now), just so I can play through the story mode before the new game comes out. Really hoping they keep the story mode up, espidcally now that we're out of retcon territory and back into pushing the lore forward for MK.
BTW: Get I get a link to this digital comic that was mentioned?

Thanks. But if I have to pay, I'm no longer interested, heh. If it turns out they have important lore that factors in on the game, I suppose someone will put up an article on an MK wiki or something.

Isn't anyone else upset that they're forcing you to pre-order this game to get a playable character? Call me old fashioned but when things like this stopped being unlocked by playing a game and started being locked away on the disc and you getting charged extra for it or them forcing you to pre order an unproven product to get the content everything started to feel like the industry had found a way to take advantage of the modern gamer that doesn't know any better.

I'm not particularly upset. I mean it's Goro and it's a WBIE game, you will definitely be able to purchase him not long after the game comes out or just wait til November and get the ultimate GOTY whatever edition that has everything anyway. If you want to know when though, Capcom was the first to do this with a fighting game with Jill Valentine and Shuma Gorath in Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Even if you waited and got Ultimate MVC3 you would have had to purchase them separately if you didn't pre-order. Though to NetherRealm's credit, unlike with Capcom's games the Mortal Kombat 9 characters and costumes they put out after release were at least new things they made and were not on the disk already.

I think you're right about Capcom, but I believe it was actually Street Fighter IV that started this trend. It had extra costumes already on the disc but locked until they went on sale as separate DLC. Total shitbag move.

Oh if you just mean on disk DLC in general Namco is like the God Emperor of that. All their 360 games especially are shameful with this.

They've certainly been the most habitual user of that sort of strategy. DLC that costs more than the game itself, often three times as much.
