I'm kinda perplexed how this could possibly be a profitable endeavor. Even in Japan they've ceased stocking stores with PSPs, so it's deader than dead at this point. I mean, yeah, I know you can play it on Vita, but most people want to play actual Vita software on their Vitas.
Well, it's still nice to see new PSP localizations either way, I just hope XSEED doesn't lose money over this.

They aren't alone, Gaijinworks is set to announce their PSP game too. I blame the "Sega Saturn" effect that happened when the West didn't localize enough so these two are making it up to us somehow.

Mainstream gamers, sure, but this is a game for hardcore dungeon-crawler fans and Falcom fans. Neither of which are particularly concerned with platform superiority or graphical wow-factor or anything, as long as the gameplay is good. And Brandish's gameplay is absolutely top-notch. We're not expecting it to sell gangbusters, of course, but this is a game with very little text that fans have been requesting quite vocally for years now. It'll do well enough. -Tom

The Vita has a staggeringly high software attach rate, which suggests that the type of person who owns a Vita is also the type of person who spends a lot of money on games. It's one of the reasons that indie games do so well on the Vita.

I'm still mad it can't play UMDs. I'll probably get one one way or the other eventually - for Memories of Celceta.

And is the reason I will always make sure I own a working PSP, since I have over 130 games on UMD. -Tom

If you're looking to play it on a Vita, definitely. A PSP emulator or custom firmware on a PSP is still preferable to using an actual UMD, though.

But all the best PSP games play just fine off of UMD -- contrary to popular belief, load times on the things were NOT a fact of life, but could easily be sidestepped with clever programming. Ys: The Oath in Felghana proved this pretty conclusively, as it managed to be one of the nicest-looking PSP games while also having literally ZERO load times after the title screen, UMD or no. I play my games directly off the UMD, and have never had a problem with it (save for when I bought that Hatsune Miku PSP with the defective UMD drive, but that's a whole other story!). -Tom
