This is kind of a weird topic, but anyone out there listen to an OST version of a song or arranged version of a song that sounds worse than the in-game song?
An example of this (in my opinion) is GSM Tecmo 1 - Ninja Ryukenden. I love the NES/Famicom soundtrack, but this album adds extra instruments that overshadow the rest of the the music and make it sound terrible.
So...anyone have any nominations?

I usually don't like arranged versions of 8 bit songs. I just feel like they don't hit as hard. At least, not often.

I feel that way about the arranged versions of the original Final Fantasy soundtrack. Even though Uematsu is the one arranging it, I prefer the OST.

Dracula Perfect Selection. Because did Castlevania really need rap lyrics?

I know I’m gonna lose my street cred by saying this, but I like Dracula Perfect Selection despite its cheesiness.

While most of the album is excellent, the arranged version of Born to Be Free on Metal Black: The First is missing all the dramatic punch and musical subtleties of the original.

Ys Piano Collection changes the perfect midi songs of the Pc-Engine's version(forever the best redbook audio of the nascent cd-rom PCE games) for midi violins and midi piano, and it's very useless, and... well it's useless to remix Ys 1&2, is it not?
There are numerous Ys remix CDs. It diluted the impact of the PCE soundtrack for a while. But time has passed, and people remember the "originals" PCE tracks, not the remixes.

I felt that way about Gunstar Heroes and Comix Zone. The latter mostly sounded like crappy pearl jam and nirvana homages.
