...wait, Mastiff? Huh. I assumed they were still releasing hunting games and those Heavy Fire games like they've done for the past few years.
Then again, they did previously localize this.

I'm surprised they still hold the rights to the license.

No idea why Mastiff doesn't localize anymore, they clearly have intention of banking off their previous ones. Gungrave OD and La Pucelle is on PSN.

Mastiff dipped their toes in niche game localizations, and apparently, it didn't take. Eidos did the same thing with that yellow-label series with R-Type Final, Mr. Mosquito, Legaia Duel Saga and Mad Maestro. They gave up on it pretty quickly too.

We somehow fell into the rights for that game and... I guess beat Mastiff to the punch? Maybe Gurumin is their revenge. If so, though, then revenge accepted -- this game is fantastic, and I wish Mastiff all the best with it. ...They'd better not censor it, though, or I'm gonna give them suuuuuch a talking-to! (And yes, there is censor-worthy material in the PC version, though not much of it.) -Tom

Last time when a developer gave out free game for Greenlight vote, we got Garry's Incident. I hope this one's better than that.

That's quite a random (and awesome) rescue. I hope you guys get your Wild Arms 4/5 rights. I know Happy mode was originally called "Pleasure" mode, but what is in the PC version that isn't in PSP? Not sure how they can screw this one up, if it becomes a simple PC localization.

I know Happy mode was originally called "Pleasure" mode, but what is in the PC version that isn't in PSP? When you heal at a healing station in the PC version, your clothes fade off, then fade back on, like a magical girl transformation. Also, when you play Pleasure mode on PC, you can look up Parin's skirt (in all other modes, it's solid black). Both entirely unnecessary, so it's easy to see why Falcom removed them for the PSP version. But Mastiff has now confirmed on their Greenlight page that the PC version will not be censored, so... there we go, I guess! -Tom

Yep, just saw the post.
On another thread, they are considering the Japanese voice.

Doesn't this game (Japanese PC version) have an alternate, more ... vulgar dialogue script that's unlocked when you finish the main playthrough? If they're just banking off their previous PSP script, I think it's really unlikely that they'll go through the trouble of translating it. And inevitably, that would be called "censorship", despite Squaresoft often doing similar things with omake/dev joke material. I think even Falcom cut one developer's room from most versions of Ys I+II save for a single one for Windows, that also has its share of questionable dialogue. (I wish Moyse would publish his "special pervert translation" he did for Secret of Evermore when Nintendo of Europe wasn't looking... ) This PC version has also seemingly much higher quality animations than the PSP version. I'd love to try it out... I'd rather support them than take advantage from the "FREE!!" offer though, they deserve it. Maybe they can work up agreements for PSP>PC ports like Ghostlight/Chinese company JoyLand did (not Falcom stuff since that's all taken up by an exclusivity deal with Xseed)?

I played the PSP version and felt that this was one of Falcom's lesser games. The action isn't anywhere near as tight as an Ys, and it's too kiddie and easy for my tastes. I've heard the Zwei series is somewhat similar in tone and playstyle.
