This isn't any of those retarded rumors, this is an actual leak from a guy who apparently holds some position at the ESRB. A bunch of short videos were uploaded to YouTube, but they were quickly taken down at Nintendo's request. There are mirrors and GIFs lying around the Internet. There was a rumored list of DLC characters but the leaker revealed this was a lie on his part so he could mislead people who'd try to take advantage of the hype and debunk newer fake leaks. So, basically, as far as we know... Four new characters : Bowser Jr, Duck Hunt Dog, Dark Pit and Shulk from Xenoblade. Six returning veterans : Ness, ROB, Falco, Jigglypuff, Ganondorf and Dr. Mario. Five who are supposedly dropped: Lucas, Snake, Ice Climbers, Wolf and Pokémon Trainer. You'll notice that the roster selection screen is a bit weird: the slots don't make a perfect square, and some characters are not next to those that are from the same series - which implies there actually are more to be revealed.

Or it could imply that this is a fake. Either way, I've seen enough anonymous leaks to know that all of them should be taken with grain of salt. Why the hell do all the leaks have to be this ambiguous anyway? Low quality pics which dont show every detail, the amount of them etc. Its like someone only had few minutes to take the pics before he gets caught by the Nintendo police or something.

Where's Rayman? It's REALLY odd that they'd go through the effort of making a trophy and everything for him if they weren't actually going to put him in there.

LOL Where's Rayman? It's REALLY odd that they'd go through the effort of making a trophy and everything for him if they weren't actually going to put him in there. Masahiro Sakurai: "In order to make Rayman’s trophy, we asked Ubisoft to share their references. We were expecting to receive 2D drawing references for Rayman, but to our surprise, they sent us data of a brand new 3D model that they rendered for this game!! And that was how this trophy was created. It takes a lot of work creating each model, so it’s wonderful that the creators contributed their own efforts!!" Via NintendoLife

I would agree... if it were not for the amount of leaked material - including videos. I usually ignore "anonymous leaks" as well, but in this very case it's hard to believe this could be a fake. As for the low quality, I'm pretty sure ESRB employees aren't supposed to be leaking that kind of stuff - so a leaker would just take quick iPhone snapshots or something so he doesn't get caught and fired from his job.

I guess on the bright side I can use Bowser Jr as a training dummy. I hate him so much.

Isn't the ESRB like, four people? Unless they've really expanded, I can't easily see one of them getting away with this.

This leads to another question: Why would someone risk their job on leaking video game stuff? If this is a actual leak, no doubt they're gonna make inquiries, try to narrow down the leaker (ESRB0083) and fire at least one person. Even if the guy was going to leave or whatever, he's likely gonna get sued. In long run its not even worth it, since its stuff people are gonna find out anyway. Its not exactly Wikileaks.

Well Melee wasn't a perfect square either. There was an indent on either side on the bottom row. But, I'm not sure what you mean with the series bit. They all look right to me.

Didn't the leaker of this show off All-Star Mode, too? Traditionally, that only shows up once you unlock all the characters, so...
Man, they really kind of blew their creative load after Pac-Man.

I like the dog from Duck Hunt. I never expected the Duck Hunt Dog is appear in the roster. A more likely character I imagined to appear would be Fawful from the Mario & Luigi rpg series.

Shulk is a real "huh?" pick. We've already got a blond-haired swordsman (Robin), he's from a game that wasn't even meant to be released in the US, and the Wii U sequel which they should be trying to pimp right now is set in an alternate universe and will feature an entirely different cast. What was the thought process here?
Also, fuck that dog and his unfunny meme that refuses to die. I bet they give him "deal with it" sunglasses as an alternate costume.
More interested in Pokken right now to be honest.
