wyrdwad is gonna like this... It was announced during SONYs pre-TGS stream... Personally hope it's Falcom's own re-interpretation of Ys V... Source: NeoGAF

If this is on Vita, they could have definitely given it a PS3 release. They probably got Sony moneyhats to support the PS4.

It's not Ys V -- the trailer says it takes place in the "Sea of Gate" where the archipelago south of Gllia is located (when they show the map, it's the area with all the projections coming out of it), which is a location never featured in any previous Ys game. And no, I don't have any other info on it -- Falcom is notoriously tight-lipped, even with us. We knew this was being made, but we only knew about the PS4 version, and we knew absolutely NO details about it -- whenever we ask for details about anything that hasn't been publicly announced, Falcom always just tells us to wait for the announcement. -Tom

`I hope you guys bring this over on vita, even digi only Can't imagine we would ever release an Ys game digital-only. They're among our best-sellers. If we do the game (and I can't imagine we wouldn't), I'd fully expect us to release an LE, for both platforms. Our side is completely done, at least until we receive an English build. The rest is up to Falcom -- whenever they're able to fit it into their schedule, I anticipate things will go pretty quickly. -Tom

Awesome news. Totally stoked for another portable Ys game, and I wouldn't mind owning a PS4 port either if only for the inevitable performance improvements.
Between this and the Persona 5 PS4 port and Bloodborne it might be time for me to get a PS4 next year.

I think the biggest thing I want from a new ys is some improved graphics. ys 7 and celceta certainly aren't UGLY games, but they're not thrilling to look at imo, and they border on bland as heck

Well, going by the brief gameplay footage shown of this new game the overall quality of the graphics is only a minor improvement over Celceta. The main change is a closer, more dynamic camera.
The Ys series isn't exactly a graphics powerhouse, and that's unlikely to change for this installment.

Will they finally correct the spelling to Ys?
Apparently this forum automatically corrects Y-apostophe-s to Ys and FUCKS UP MY JOKE

Ys
Huh, the hell? Also, that's pretty cool. My buddy loves these games and really has had no desire to own a PSP/Vita. But the world could always use another one.

Even forum software is getting sick of people misspelling Ys.

I still really don't see why this needed to be released on the QuadStation when those graphics would barely be pushing the Triple.
I'm kinda glad they seem to have stopped milking the Kiseki series for now. We're probably not gonna see the last one of those translated until 2025 at the earliest. Personally, one was enough for me.
I kind of expect them to revisit Vantage Master at some point. I don't usually say this, but it would be perfect for a browser/mobile freemium game with online play, along the lines of Hearthstone.
