The main problem is that if owners don't take care of their classic arcade games, there won't be any more of them to replace when the old ones die out. It's like watching a museum take hammers to their dinosaur skeletons.

By America you mean USA? Because as far as I know there are still arcade stores in USA (even if they don't have the glory of yesterday) and you can still find arcade machines in shopping centers. America has a lot of different types of regions. Some people live in big cities, but most of us are in small towns or suburbs. That kind of area almost never has an arcade, and even if they do, it's mostly just a DDR machine and maybe Pac Man. If you were talking about America in the 80s, I would agree with you. At any rate, I'd really like to get the chance to play Silent Hill Arcade and Castlevania: The Arcade, as they're both lightgun games for two of my favorite franchises (even if SHA absolutely shits all over the series canon). The T2 arcade game is definitely a favorite out of the ones that have officially been released in America, though. Hogan's Alley was probably the first arcade game I ever played, as well. Don't play the Silent Hill Arcade. Not even out of morbid curiosity. Not only is it an uninspired shooter, but I swear the bosses cheap shot you with unavoidable hits.

Looks like it's a bit of a rip off of Ghost Ship, too. Still, one strives to maintain completeness in a favorite series.

I like Missile Defense 3D for the Sega Master System. Great 3D effect, fun shooting action.

My favorite light gun game is Elemental Gearbolt. A nice weird fantasy atmosphere, some RPG-ish touches, a wonderful soundtrack, and solid gameplay that Working Designs toughened up a little. Too bad I don't have a CRT anymore.

Problem with modern light gun games in they throw to many cheap shots at you I mean Terminator Salvation had hidden settings so if you last so long without taking damage it will throw unavoidable attacks at you. Last Light Gun I played was Segas Bay Formers one at Disney Quest where everythings on free play though they do not change machines there much was nearly same ones in exact same places 5 years ago. The game was rather meh and added quick time event crap to the game to make it even cheaper and unfair rather weird you never kill any boss in the game They just run off when there at 1 hit point even though It don't follow the movie's plot at all. Still at least they tried unlike the Bayfomers 3D ride at Universal that's just the Spiderman ride at their park next door reskined.

My favorite lightgun game of all-time has to be Alien 3: The Gun.
Other lightgun games which I hold in very high esteem are...
Terminator 2: Judgement Day Virtua Cop 1 and 2 Time Crisis 2 Gunblade NY and LA Machineguns The House of the Dead 2

Yes, Alien 3 The Gun was pretty great! And the Alien-inspired Space Gun too!
I wanted to see also more "comical" lightgun games outside the Point Blank series, but the only one that comes to my mind now is Ghoul Panic, and even that one is more or less part of the PB series...

Actually i'm no fan of this genre. I prefer beat em up genre (or i like to call it Fighting Action) Since it mostly vanish in arcade world and most interesting genre in arcade place that i find is Lightgun so i can't being picky. Lightgun game that i like are: - Ninja Assault (Namco), it has quite solid gameplay and lifebar stats (not several medkit icon thingy)
- Sega's Golden Gun, it's about 2 student confront Medieval Chinesse chaos in modern time. You can buy item at the cost of score (Well freak score! i choose buying item)
- Operation Ghost Squad (Sega), with attached not-so-light gun (because it more resemble Assault Rifle). Decent difficulty if you can prioritize enemy annihilation and think swiftly. Quite like modern COD with rail-walk and enemy's danger indicator but very much better than it.
