Bubsy 3D and Superman: two of the worst games of all times. Among these two games which one is worse in your opinion? I give my vote to Superman 64. At least Bubsy 3D doesn't have time limit like Superman 64 has and that makes it more tolerable for me. Also Bubsy 3D is excused for its crapiness as a very early 3D platform game that was developed along with Super Mario 64. What's their excuse with Superman 64? Finally the creator of Bubsy 3D admits that he made an abomination while the creators of Superman 64 are too fucking denial.

Crap. I clicked on Superman by mistake. I only vote Bubsy because I actually enjoyed Superman 64 when it was first released. I can't say why, I just did. Bubsy just looks unplayable from what I've seen.

I rented Bubsy 3D back in the day... and I didn't hate it.
I didn't LIKE it, mind you... but I found it entirely playable, and not really all that bad. The PS1 is, quite frankly, terrible at rendering 3D, so the creators of Bubsy 3D essentially went with the simplest polygons possible in order to avoid taxing the hardware... and as a result, the game's environments may look boring, but they have a very "clean" appearance, with very little of that weird distortion you usually get from PS1 3D, and nothing that looks unfinished or unsupported like most other 3D titles on the system.
And gameplay-wise, there are a lot of nice touches -- Bubsy's idle animations where he messes with your TV's settings are really cute, and the 3D modeling on the characters is actually pretty OK.
It was never a game I'd buy, but I didn't feel ripped off having rented it -- I got my 2 days of enjoyment out of it, and returned it feeling satisfied.
Game gets a bad rap. Though not as bad as the original Bubsy, which I still say to this day is an excellent 2D platformer -- I enjoyed the hell out of it as a kid, and beat it straight through more times than I can count.

I voted for Bubsy because, while I dislike Supes as a character, it's pretty much impossible to make a good and compelling game based on him unlike other superheroes, so it was doomed from the start even if it was technically good. Bubsy is just stupid and annoying.
Eh, kind of a weird reasoning, but I stand beside it.

Bubsy, I only played it. It was a bizarre game. Like, you knew what the levels are supposed to look like but the actual gameplay segments have flat shading and checkered tile floors and only spent time making Bubsy and the enemies. To give them credit, they allowed camera tilting when platforming which helped its playability a little.
Fun fact, the team that made the game went on to be Sony's Bend Studio with the Syphon Filter series.

I won't vote. I didn't play the games when they were released, and I never played them on their native systems. But I have to admit, my sympathy is with Bubsy 3D because it came out earlier. At the time, there were many way worse 3D games... which I still played happily, not knowing any better. And yes, I personally don't think those to belong to worst games ever made. They are somewhat functional...

I never played either but probably should; my only exposure to Bubsy 3D is that art exhibit online game thing. My brother had a friend who owned Superman 64 and apparently was able to beat it, because it was the only game they had for a long time.

Yeah, I actually just learned that from the recent Rerez video on Bubsy 3D. Either way, I don't actually think the game looks BAD. The super-simple textures come across as a stylistic choice, whether or not that's how they were intended -- kind of like how everything in Super Mario Bros. 3 intentionally looks like it's a stage prop, only less... realized. I'd say the graphics in Bubsy 3D are serviceable. They get the job done. Superman 64's graphics are also serviceable, but somehow even MORE dull than Bubsy 3D's. So even in terms of graphics, I'd take Bubsy over Superman any day of the week, hands down. -Tom
