The wonky overly literal translation of Japanese arcade games works great here too. I love that your ship and the rest of the species are referred to as Eaters.

What a coincidence having this article posted while I'm reading a collection of Lovecraft's short stories! I've been in love with them and their mythos for a while, and since this is a shmup, I'll most definetely try it out!

Go figure why wasn't this ever released. Maybe because you can use cancer as a weapon? I'm not joking there, you really can.

The concept of this game is frighteningly similar to the Chimera Ants in Hunter x Hunter. The plot starts similarly in which the queen Chimera Ant eats anything that moves, giving birth to other Chimera Ants with different animal properties. Soon, they start becoming sentient beings that try to take over the human world. If you have the patience to watch through over a hundred episodes of Hunter x Hunter, you'll be rewarded with one of the best anime series out there.

Lord BBH (is he still out there? Hi!) pointed out in this article that the tiny men appearing in the last stage before the final boss are the protagonists of 64th Street! Nice find.
