Earlier in the year I decided to start using my PS3 controller with epsxe for that more authentic Playstation feel, I achieved through esoteric methods that I've now forgotten, I downloaded motionjoy and finagled with something or something or other and managed to get it to work.
At first it worked great, then the analog sticks stopped working and I could never managed to fix that, well last night for reasons unknown the while controller decided out of the blue to stop working and now I just can't fix it, I've tried messing with motionjoy again but I can't remember what exactly I did last time, I've tried "better DS3 tool" which doesn't even detect the controller at all.
This is my last ditch hail Mary attempt by asking you all for advice because I just can't take this bullshit anymore, I've done all I can think to do and while I really don't want to go back to using an Xbox controller again at least it fucking works without any hassle.
So can anyone help me out with a step by step process on how to get the thing working again?

The main problem I have with PS3 controller support is that you need to install Motioninjoy before even the alternate config tools will function. Make sure that you've run Motioninjoy at least once and told it to "install all drivers," then use BetterDS3 to configure your controller as an X360/xinput device. You may need to do a complete uninstall and clean reinstall of the drivers. Can you test the controller on any other machines in your house? Does it work on an actual PS3 or another computer?

The thing is I can't get Motioninjoy to do much of anything, let alone download drivers, I have no idea what is wrong.

For whatever reason a PS4 controller does work with epsxe, it just glitches out.

That's a bit weird. I played with one in Teslagrad for a little while without issues over Bluetooth. I wouldn't expect one program to behave differently than another.

Odd. Better DS3 has worked perfectly for me right off the bat and never stopped. Did you wipe the Motioninjoy driver completely? Maybe you need to manually install them again. This is the only alternate method I know that doesn't require the Motioninjoy drivers but I still haven't tried it myself.
