Alright, now I don't know who's trolling who anymore. www.ign.com/articles/2014/12/09/tekken-boss-responds-to-fan-backlash-regarding-lucky-chloeBasically three new characters for the upcoming Tekken 7 have been revealed, with one of them, Lucky Chloe, looking like this: Apparently after many people complained, especially on the NeoGAF forums, game director K. Harada told on Twitter that she was only going to be an exclusive for the Europe and East Asia versions of the game, and that they were working on a character for the NA audiences that is muscular and "skinhead" (really?). Now I don't know if they planned this from the beginning or if it was decided to remove her only after all the rabble that came up online, but if it was intentional they really choose the best possible time, what with the controversies that come up every time a woman becomes a playable character in a video game and also with the fact that it's apparently cool again to hate anything that is "too Japanese". The character design, with an obviously Western character and an outfit that seems a parody of how idols/cosplayers are viewed by the West, may be hinting to the trolling option, but who knows, really. I find it especially fun that Tekken is a series that has in its roster angels, devils, robots, a werewolf spirit and a boxing raptor, but all of a sudden many people complain about how Chloe is "ruining" the series and so on. What do you think?

I think that the character fits well in the Tekken-universe, yes.

If I were to make a list of the most batshit insane characters in Tekken this one wouldn't even make the top 5.

There is a very simple solution. Don't play as her.

We also had a farting deformed dinosaur, a male bear who flirts the female panda of the game, a wooden doll with boobs, a boxing kangaroo, an ogre...but a Hatsune Miku parody ruins the game? What the hell! And I can't take the "too japanese" excuse: Tekken Tag Tournament 2 already had a character like: And nobody complained about her. People suddenly got dumber after GamerGate controversy? There, I said it. By the way I like Harada's answer.

If they replace her with somebody more "Western" I would import the game. It's stupid, she reminds me of Honey from Fighting Vipers and that game turned out fine with a "cosplayer" character.

Next game the complete rooster is locked DLC. You simply buy the characters you like and ignore the rest. There, problem solved.

I believe Killer Instinct has already beat them to the punch on that one.

It would be cool if the it's the same girl in each region but with different costumes.

So for the NA-region she'd shave her head and wears a muscle suit? Genius. I believe Killer Instinct has already beat them to the punch on that one. I thought that one came with a (small) main cast?

I don't see why she has to be controversial in this day and age. Come on, we tolerated Sakura in Street Fighter Alpha. Nobody really gave a shit about ClayFighter 63-1/3's Kung Pow back in the day. As long as she has a new and interesting fighting style, I'm sure Tekken's target audience will be willing to tolerate it.
What we don't need is more musclemen in our fighting games. Most of the cast already fits that bill.

Controversy? Oh for the love of... I vote we burn all people that identify themselves as "gamers" and come up with a new word. I vote for "satanists."

When I first saw this on another website my first thought was how people were going to talk about there being a furry in Tekken.

I actually happen to think Lucky Chloe is worse than farting dinosaurs because she's just pandering. Tekken has many terrible designs, and she does nothing to lift that burden. Tekken has somewhat of an identity crisis between wanting to be taken extremely serious (anime terms), and pushing a lot of comedy. Lucky's design doesn't pander toward the epic martial art appeal, and unless she is indeed a work of satire, she can only bring the pop idol worship trope to the table.
I could be entirely wrong about her character because of how little we've been exposed to thus far, but I'm fairly confident because "Tekken."
To be honest though, I think most of the people complaining about the people complaining are only doing so because it's a female character being criticized on the internet. Then again, they could just hate complaining.
