Dead Space: boring. I've heard a lot of this being compared to Event Horizon and System Shock but it's just a boring survival horror game. Your opinions are bad and you should feel bad! I do. I really want to like the game but it's goddamn boring

Actually, I remember finding Dead Space a bit boring too, I think it's because the game had too many "go here and do this" objectives that just felt kinda tedious and too little variety in the environments (which is something the sequel notably fixed).
However that was over 6 years ago when I played and I've been meaning to give it another try, something tells me I may like it more this time around.

I appreciated it for that, honestly. Isaac is supposed to be a regular guy just doing his job. He isn't a superhero or a space marine. He's a space janitor.
I think EA made a serious mistake by trying to recast him as a psycho in the later games.

Dead Space 1 is one of my favorite games of all time, I would certainly put it somewhere in the top 10 or 15. The difficulty levels are really interesting. Anything below Impossible is an action game, but Impossible is an actual survival horror experience where you will need to actually consider where to spend credits, and may even need to replay sections until you learn the best way to conserve ammo. I think EA made a serious mistake by trying to recast him as a psycho in the later games. Definitely. But hard to craft a "franchise" with a silent protag, no emotional engagement, etc. so EA ruined another good thing.

Say what you will about Dead Space, but it does NOT have Vin Diesel in it. This makes all of the games in the series, even Dead Space 3, superior to Butcher Bay by a country mile.

Ignores the quality of a game because of it's lead character...puts a series published by EA on a pedestal...LOL makes sense.

More sense than liking anything with the "star" of xXx in it, I'd say.

I like the guy to be honest. His movies are alright sometimes, I avoided Fast & Furious for a decade at least and it turned out to be one of the best comedies I've seen.
Pitch Black was pretty good.

I could feel my IQ lowering just from watching the titular "Riddick" movie.

Highs: Ogre Battle - a return to (and revenge on) my childhood. An amazing game. Kyuuyaku Megami Tensei - can't get enough of SMT King's Field series - the second one being one of the best games I've played, ever SaGa Frontier 2 - after finally realizing how it's meant to be played... BoF: Dragon Quarter - a purely challenge based JRPG is mindblowing Chrono Cross - possibly the best OST and battle system ever Legend of Grimrock 2 - blows the original out of the water, with the puzzles, the scope, just the entire island...
Lows: Far Cry 3 - made with just one ambition: to appeal to people with zero attention span Bioshock Infinite - lovely story and all, but ditch the awful gameplay if you're just gonna make it all shitty Assassins Creed games - are still being made Shovel Knight - broke my heart with it's casual-level difficulty, pinning my hope on the additional content though
