Surprised nobody has tried to do a fanmade remake of Metal Gear 1. A remake much truer to the MSX original, right down to the original intro of Solid Snake performing an underwater infiltration, and the original final battles with Metal Gear TX-55 (not a Blue Screen of Death Super Computer) and Big Boss.

Guys, make thread titles that tell what you're talking about, please. I've fixed this one for you, but in the future please make sure that people are going to know whether they're interested in the topic before klicking the link.

Why not just play the port included in MGS3: Subsistence, MGS HD Collection, or MGS Legacy Collection?

I can't imagine a full NES version would be that enjoyable. Especially since the MSX version is readily available.

Maybe for novelty's sake, but the MSX2 version is fine as it is, and it already feels a lot like an NES game anyways. The Metal Gear "fight" isn't interesting at all either way.

That part was a disappointment when I finally got around to the MSX game.

It’s definitely lazy (or a case of corporate rushing, but anyway) that Metal Gear isn’t actually in the game, but by no means does it define the whole game.

The NES version? The developers blamed it on the hardware. They said it might've been doable if they had a better mapper like VRC4 (I think the game used UNROM).

This reminded me on how close we were of getting a fan-made PC remake of it using the Source engine until Konami pulled canned the whole thing. Sigh...
I really miss the old days when Konami would lock themselves inside a room full of booze and crack only to come up with stuff like Parodius and not give two shits if it would sell or not. Also, when was the last time they professed their unconditional love for Moai heads? It's been so long since I've seen one.

They still exist in Ground Zeroes, but Konami has gone downhill since the mid 2000s.
