While Star Gunner is free on GoG.com...I was actually really underwhelmed with the game, it seems super hard and I couldn't get into it at all. Raptor and Tyrian are still awesome fun though, and I should grab a shareware copy of Major Stryker (Unless it's not Shareware anymore, I'm not sure) and check if I still enjoy it. Zone 66 (Which has one of my fav all time intros sequeneces)...I really liked it when I was younger, but i'm not sure if the bombing run centric gameplay would do it for me now. Still has damn good music, but really, I don't think any of Epic Gamegames games had bad music. Also, 2 more games to add to the list: Solar WindsTraffic Department 2192Solar Winds actually has a few RPG elements and is quite story based, but is still shooter style gameplay. Both games feature an interesting storyline, but I find the quality for both dips consierably once you get bast the shareware episodes (The same is true for Zone 66, IMO)

I should grab a shareware copy of Major Stryker (Unless it's not Shareware anymore, I'm not sure) and check if I still enjoy it. The full version of Major Stryker was indeed legitimately released as freeware. It didn't do much for me when I took it for a spin. Got a bit tedious, actually. I kind of forgot about that; I didn't think of it as a shooter. That reminds me, no one's mentioned Overkill yet. Or Seek and Destroy, another Epic game.

I can fully agree on Zone 66. I think I convinced myself it was better than it really is when I was young, both due to my younger self not having the cash to buy new games all the time and the storyline being interesting. When I actually got access to the later episodes when some other comapny started selling them solo in boxed cheap releases, I was quite disappointed to discover the storyline didn't have the interesting reveals and direction the shareware episode wanted to imply. This kinda makes me sad that (as far as I know) nobody is selling Epic's old games officially

There were Galactix and Kiloblaster, as far as "single screen" (Space Invaders/Galaxian) style games go...
