Always thought this game looked really cool, from the video playthroughs and other media i've seen from it. Cool to see a feature on it here.
Skimmed the article, but i noticed this: "Even the menu sounds are nearly identify". Nearly identical?

I have it and I liked what I played. It's very clearly just a 2D Silent Hill, but hey, if Konami isn't going to make a good Silent Hill anytime soon, I'll gladly take one done well from someone else. I love the graphics and atmosphere, though it also shares some Silent Hill faults as well. I swear, I need a guide to get through these games with their obtuse puzzles.

Just a few adjustments: - "seemed really interesting to be" = interesting to me
- The Last Window = The Last Door
- "Even the menu sounds are nearly identify" = identical

Great to see Lone Survivor covered, the last time I played it though was about 2 years ago, will probably try it again next weekend. Currently playing Enigma: An Illusion Named Family, which is overall a nice horror game with a focus on hiding and investigating in the dark, you make one wrong move and alert the killer that you're in the room, not to mention that the hero is afraid of the dark, so you need to constantly check up on his fear level by lighting matches, which are very limited, but they can also help you investigate or by eating food, otherwise, you just lose control of your character and he runs frantically about. If you like indie horror games, check it out as well, the person who made it has really made it a labour of love. P.S. here's a pic from the intro of the game which is sad, but true:

I just picked this up the other day, thanks to the article, and finished my first runthrough a few minutes ago. Very solid psychological horror game, if a bit cliche at times. The game makes no attempt to mask the fact that it's clearly trying to ape the Silent Hill vibe, and in all honesty, that's not a bad thing. Konami has done fuck all with the franchise for over a decade now*, so if they're not going to do the franchise justice, why not someone else who actually gives a damn?
Of course, with those influences comes the realization that there are no truly new ideas being espoused here. If you've played enough games of this sort, or even have a passing familiarity with narrative structure (or David Lynch, for that matter), the twists are all going to be seen coming from a mile away. On the plus side, I wouldn't say that this truly detracts from the overall experience, though. Sometimes you don't need a brand new idea. Sometimes you just want a well-executed version of an existing idea.
Considering the game is under $10 on Steam at the moment, you could certainly do worse.
*I'd exclude Shattered Memories from that statement, flawed though the game may be.

Hey, the link to this article is broken in the index. It takes you to The Lone Ranger (NES) instead.
