www.hardcoregaming101.net/axiomverge/axiomverge.htmMetroidvanias are common amongst the indie gaming scene, but few pay such loving homage to the 8 and 16-bit games of yore as Axiom Verge. Man I want that Vita port to come out soon, I'm dying to play this!

Neat summary. Sadly I have to say that the ridiculously uninspired art direction is pretty much a complete turn-off for me. This game has not a single ounce of personality, which is quite a feat, considering the visuals are done anything but carelessly. But it just reeks of the amateurish visual design found in many Amiga games back in the day.

It's not out yet, but it will be. There's a period of exclusivity due to the game being partially funded by Sony. A Vita version is coming out when it's done,.

Yeah, was going to ask the same thing. Oh well, seems it will take forever then. The soundtrack is not bad at all.

Yeah the soundtrack is quite good. I liked how each area was, in its own way, evocative of certain games. Like the mountainous Kur area to the east has a couple of point where it's like "Alright this is the Blaster Master room, and here's the Bionic Command room" which is pretty cool. I also like how the more technologically advanced areas are a bit more recent looking, resembling Amiga and early SNES stuff (this is especially true of the last are, the background song of which is basically awesomeamigamusic.wav).

Picked this game up yesterday and I have been enjoying it thus far, although I'm only just past the fourth boss. Glad to see it get some coverage here.

If anything, this feels SO MUCH MORE FOCUSED in its visual design than 90% of the indie games out there, it immediately stood out to me from screenshots alone, and then doubly so from videos. Game looks amazing. I wish I owned a PS4 so I could play it right now. -Tom

Ah, I was looking forward to a new Metroidvania, having just finished Unepic. Sadly this one isn't out for PC yet, but it does look fairly awesome.

I take it you've played La-Mulana already? If not, I'd recommend that to tide you over. Especially coming off of Unepic, you should feel right at home with it, since both games were primarily inspired by/modeled after The Maze of Galious. -Tom

I Did! it was so good. The sense of discovery, the big bosses, the entire soundtrack. It's a game I won't EVER forget. *_*

I'm not a big PC person, so you'll forgive my ignorance, but... what does that mean, exactly? I have no idea what an "Intel Core i5" or "Intel HD Graphics" are -- I'm used to a more sliding scale that deals with "Pentium 2" or "Pentium 3" and nVidia graphics cards with numbers after them and such. I'm guessing by your reactions that those are like, ultra-ritzy specs or something? I've got a decent gaming PC, so I'm just going to assume mine will be able to play it -- but maybe not. I guess we'll see in mid-May! -Tom
