Typically, most people tend to go straight to official soundtracks or arrange albums (mp3, ogg, flac) due to how easy to grab and play they are.
Some, however, may prefer exotic formats (vgm, spc, brstm, nsf) that usually tend to be more faithful than their official recordings and allow listeners to play music tracks with endless loops (as if you were playing them from a game's sound test) at the expense of some plug-in hunting and configuration of sorts.
Personally, I like to stick to the more traditional stuff when it comes down to remixes or arrange albums, but otherwise, I prefer to go through the exotic route for a better experience, especially when the official soundtracks lack tracks that are only available in-game or when they don't sound as good out of the game.
What are your preferences regarding this matter?

I'm a weird sort of person that adds my entire music library to one playlist and sets it to shuffle tracks. With almost 20,000 tracks in my library, that presents some really bizarre randomness sometimes (I've gone from Fire Emblem to Credence Clearwater Revival to the intermission track from Ixnay on the Hombre). Foobar2000 barely even sputters at the sheer size of it, which is a stark contrast to the Winamp 5 that I used to use which would crash after about five minutes of trying to parse it.
I'm really anal about my game music having proper artist and title tags. It pisses me off more than anything to download a game soundtrack and having it all listed as Artist: Activision, Title: Untitled Track 03. So I tend to track down official soundtracks where possible.
If I'm on the go, though, I can't just bring my entire library with me, so emulated music is great for saving space on my phone storage. There are a lot of really good ways to play emulated music on a phone, from MODo (supports most 8- and 16-bit music formats) to Timidity++ (for MIDI, with soundfont support).

I also lile wildly contrasted mixes, so I also put my whole music library on shuffle, with similar results. On the go I do the same (I use an Iphone devoid of apps, only music in it.)

YouTube. Individual searches, no playlists. If it's not on YouTube, I typically don't listen. There have been some cases where I've gone MP3 (Technictix, Ginga Force) because I can't YouTube it, but yeah... ... YouTube.

Depends on my mood and the music. YouTube is the most convenient, and with YTMP3, I can always just get the mp3 from there. I'll even convert the mp3s to m4a and put it on an SD card for on-the-go enjoyment via DSi. I also have a decent-sized library of SPCs, VGMs, and NSFs that I listen to through WinAmp. The nice thing about those formats is that they're accurate and very tiny in filesize. The latter fact made them my preferred VGM format when I lived out in the country and had to use a mobile internet with a 5GB/month data cap.

Youtube if I'm at home (or just at my computer in general), my MP3 player if I'm not.
Sometimes I listen to CDs on my home movie player, though.

I prefer .mp3 and sometimes .ogg on my phone when walking, waiting patiently on my mother shopping at Goodwill stores and estate sales, working on projects and cooking.

I tend to go for original format if possible, or hardware recordings, but I'm only anal about MD music for some reason.

YouTube at work. iPod/iPhone otherwise. I also shuffle the whole library too. Nothing beats a Gwar/Tom Waits/Emperor/Castlevania mix.
I've also got a media player which plays .NSF files on my phone.

Slightly off topic: gotta love the names they give to VG music! I especially like the kind that have exclamation points. Don't forget the broken Engrish ones, too!

im very lazy so just add mp3/flac to my phone or available player works for me. Most time I shuffle, and do random playlist.

I generally go for any and every format I can get my dirty little hands on. Hoot, VGM, .ogg, flac... all fair game!

Overall, MP3, just for uniformity's sake if I'm putting things on a player to listen to at work.
Though I really haven't started with VGM yet. Though I'm sort of wanting to. Mostly 8/16-bit stuff. Just not sure where to look to get started.
