OMF2097 works quite nicely through Dosbox using its IPX server emulator. Not particularly 3D though

As anyone knows, having an opponent to play a fighting game against is half the fun :). That's true! That gives me an idea: we pick an official game, as GC9X is wont to do, and then we play whatever games have online available on the side! So we could possibly get a game of Blade Symphony going. I'll look into what Steam offers, and for stuff like Ballz 3D, there's MAMEHub.

I don't know how well 3D games work on MAMEHub, sadly. You can play stuff like Bloody Roar and Mace pretty well on MAME, but trying to do it online might be a different matter entirely...

I'd be willing to track down a copy of Battle Arena Toshinden for this. As a kid I was blown away by the game, but I haven't played it since then...so I'm willing to bet that it doesn't hold up to my memory of it. Also, I'm terrible at 3D fighters, but if there is something to play online with others I'd be down for that. This genre has me excited to participate, which is odd considering the conversation recently about people's interest in contributing.

This month we're tackling two games at extreme ends of the 3D fighters craze! However, feel free to talk about your favorite 3D fighters in this thread, and why we should have played them instead. :p

Good picks. I hope I can get my hands on copies. I've never play a Toshinden. They were at the end of their life by the time I got a PSX. And I like BB, but always felt like I was missing something in. Would love to revisit that one.

Thankfully, these are one of the rare cases where they're actually on PSN (there's also the uh "grey market" route ;p).

I am a big proponent if said "grey market", but my computers been on the fritz lately.

I need to burn my PC copy of Zero Divide and give that spin. I've heard it called Toshinden with robots, so that should be something. :p

There was a fourth Toshinden? Well I'll be damned. Definitely going to have to try that, too.

And one on the Wii, too, apparently, from 2009. That one looks so different that I'm not entirely sure if it's even the same franchise, though.
Looks better than Castlevania Judgement, at least. I think. Maybe.
