Yep, one of the first video gaming mascots of all time, is now 35.
I'm really stunned that the original game is quite hard to find in the arcades, while its younger sibling, Ms. Pac Man, is so much easier to find. Even as a kid, I couldn't help but notice this.

Dang, it's already 5 years since Google put the Pac-Man maze doodle on their home page?

A true icon. I was nonplussed with the derision at his Smash Bros. inclusion from the (presumably) younger crowd. He blazed the path Mario and others walk.
Most his games never set the world on fire like the original, sure, save perhaps Pac-Land. The New Adventures was an experimental deadend, but at least it tried to think outside the box.
He's still a whippersnapper next to Felix, though.

To this day, the only thing that will stop my 70-year-old dad in his tracks is a chance to play Pac Man. It's the only game he'll talk about with me.

Pac Man is the oldest game that I love, a classic.

vimeo.com/15532555Matt Barton tweeted about this, old but interesting talk that goes into the creation of Ms. Pac-Man. He seems to be stating that Namco knew about Ms. Pac-Man after all?

@bugman : It's a reality that none of it's subsequent games could put lightning in a bottle like the original. But even though it's success is nothing compared to that of the original, Pac-Man Championship Edition /Championship Edition DX was a heartening new take on the old mechanics which many loved and which received rave reviews, I hope it doesn't get forgotten, because it was devilish good fun. It's the best Pac-Man sequel I played, with Pac-Mania a distant third... (And not counting the completely different games like Pac-man world)...
It remains highly recommended. It's highly addictive and truly the best homage Namco could give to Pac-Man. It's a 9/10 game easily.

I love Pac-Man. Not because he's an important historical figure (though that helps,) it's because he's a great example of modernizing a video game franchise.
His character is impressive to me. He's the down-to-earth sitcom family man... in video game form. Breathe that in for a moment. I've never minded the fact that he looks nothing like his old self. The only change I'm angry about is the Ghostly Adventures kind... *shudder*

So what's the word on the Pac Man movie? I believe it's suppose to be live action.

Ms Pac-Man at the arcades is from the first video games I've played (back in early '80s when I was a little kid) and I still love. Also Pac-Man Championship Edition is from the best modernization of classic games. And of course his entry as a playable character at Super Smash Bros 4 is awesome. Waka waka, motha faka!

I'm glad Championship Edition didn't remain as an XBox exclusive, but I still have yet to play it despite buying it ages ago. It's also nice that I still see Battle Royale (basically the Championship Edition) in movie-theater arcades and suchlike with some regularity (usually surrounded by ticket-winning things based on Doodle Jump and Temple Run). So what's the word on the Pac Man movie? I believe it's suppose to be live action. Are you referring to Pixels?

Damn, missed the Steam sale for Championship Edition DX. Really cannot recommend that game highly enough to anyone who's even remotely interested in classic gaming.
