Dengeki Online sourceI'm looking forward to this. Resident Evil Zero is the only classic Resident Evil game I've yet to play. I actually own a Gamecube copy which I bought a few years ago, but I think I'll hold out for this to come to Steam, because... I feel like it.

Played this years ago when this came out on the GC. Most notable thing I can remember is that it was the first RE game to have any sort of a single player character switching mechanic.
Oh and giant zombified frogs, which seemed like the real big selling point. Oh, well, there was some sort of an attempt at building it up as a prequel that would fill in the blanks in the story but it seemed like an afterthought. The real energy was put in those frogs.

The best scene of that game is at the beginning when you're on the roof of the train in the rain.

WHERE THE FUCK IS MY RESIDENT EVIL 2 REMASTER >:C Well, hopefully Capcom will take notice of how successful these HD remasters of the former Gamecube exclusive games are, and will get around to finally making a Resident Evil 2 remake. Then again, this is Capcom so I try not to expect them to do anything which involves too much effort or commitment.

Man, I haven't played Zero since 2002, I've heard some people say it's not good but from what I remember it wasn't as good as REmake but it wasn't bad, thought it certainly peaked with the opening train level.

I still got my copy of the GC original around here. Never played further than the opening train segment, it felt kinda weird in terms of rooms and pacing for a RE game (I somehow think the rooms used to be bigger in the previous parts?).
Still, I thought it hinted at great potential. But judging by the reactions in this thread, I suppose that never came to fruition?

Other than the train level and the fact that the game starred Rebecca, I didn't think anyone really liked this game? I'm in the same situation was everyone else, bought it cheap roughly when it came out, played a bit and wasn't too impressed to make it very far.

I liked it. I don't think it warrants a remake over 2 or 3 though. Maybe because it was created with the updated graphics of the GC REmake though. Probably easier to upgrade.
It was a fun game I thought, but for me I was tired of the RE single character formula so the partner approach was welcome. I'm sure it turned most people away though. It was a departure, but the traditional RE games had run their course for me at the time.

RE0 is very, very forgettable, representing all of the worst aspects of "classic" RE design. Have to agree that the only good part is the train, and that's over within maybe the first hour. Kind of expected this after how much of a success REmake's remaster ended up being, though.

I was expecting this after the success of the RE HD remaster.
I'd love a proper remake of RE 2 in the style of the GCN RE remake, but that would require Capcom to actually make an effort, whereas RE Zero already has assets available to remaster.

Plus we'd lose more of the classic-style voice acting. "Hold your FIRE! I'm a HUMAN!"

It definitely wasn't as good as the REmake, and personally, I felt it was the first game to take a very cookie-cutter approach to the whole franchise. Aside from the REmake, I wasn't impressed by any title since other than RE4. The graphics were probably the best thing about it. Well, that and it reminded me of one of my favorite cheesy movie taglines I can't even remember the train sequence all that well other than it was visually impressive. Clearly intended to be the demo level.

REmake and RE0 still look so fucking amazing even to this day, it would be incredible if over a decade later Capcom actually dusted off that pre-rendered graphical style, that's something I never would have expect to happen but since RE-REmake sold well I'm sure Capcom is entertaining the idea. I'm still pleasantly surprised Capcom re-released REmake actually, I figured they wanted to forget about any old style Resident Evils, so who knows what they'll do next.

I'd love a proper remake of RE 2 in the style of the GCN RE remake, but that would require Capcom to actually make an effort It'd also require them to actually want to make a RE game in the classic style instead of the RE4 style, which is something I'm not sure they particularly care for anymore. And on the off-chance that they did, you just KNOW they're gonna try to screw-up the series's clusterf*** of a canon by cramming in a convoluted subplot like Chief Irons having a virus'd up relative hidden somewhere in the sewers or other some such nonsense. RE0 is a game I definitely want to get around to playing, even if everything about it is the very definition of "throwaway". The plot barely factors into the future games and the lead characters are never seen again outside of cameos and the Chronicles games.
