So apparently both the Steam and PSN versions of Amnesia: Memories are coming out on August 25th, and there are two different limited edition sets yet neither have a physical copy of the game and one set doesn't include the game period, haha: gematsu.com/2015/06/amnesia-memories-limited-editions-announcedReleasing a set without even a code for a digital copy is just beyond bizarre to me, but I guess maybe they're banking on fans of the anime who aren't interested in playing the game? (But the anime isn't very highly regarded, so...) And if you want the Vita release, you're shit out of luck because the set that does include the game only offers a Steam code, and I bet it'll be more expensive buying the goods and PSN release separately. Originally I was leaning toward the Vita version since they were saying that it was coming out first, but if it's a simultaneous release on PSN and Steam, then I may as well go with the PC version. And since I'm a sucker for limited editions, I'll probably get the one with the code. Depending on how much the game alone will cost, it could be a decent value.

Wasn't that the VN that got the anime where a guy kept the personality devoid girl in a cage

I don't know a lot about Amnesia (waiting till I get the game), but one of the few things I do know is about the the infamous cage, haha, so yep, that's the one.
But considering all the fucked up things that happen in lots of other VNs I play, it's nothing that I'd even blink an eye at, haha.

Well, Amnesia has been out for a few days now. I've had a super busy week, so I've yet to start playing (I did install it and read the manual at least, haha). Just as a heads up, it's 40% off on Steam during this launch week (so till Sept 1), making it $18, which isn't shabby at all for a brand new VN localization. If you want it on Vita, you're stuck paying the full $30, though.

I need to get around to trying one out. I think this might be good fodder for a GC9x episode or special episode because it's still kind of undiscovered territory here in the west.
BTW, does Hatoful Boyfriend count?

I'd love to see an otome game covered for GC9X. Yep, Hatoful Boyfriend counts. Female protagonist and the love interests are all guys, even if they're shown as birds the vast majority of the time.

We'll definitely need you onboard as a guest host. If anything this'll be a good excuse to get you on the show again.

It'd be my pleasure. And if it was Hatoful, I'd be able to join you guys in playing it for the first time since I still haven't gotten around to it. Though I'd be down for talking about Hakuoki or Sweet Fuse or Amnesia or just about any English release. Heck, even a fan-patched one would be cool. Dot Kareshi would be super fun since it's inspired by the NES Dragon Warrior games (the heroine gets sucked into the world of the RPG she loved as a child), with all the love interests being twisted versions of the classes (as in Knight, Mage, Priest, etc.) and monsters. C'mon, you guys know you wanna date a personified slime, haha.

I just want to doublecheck, if I'm in the US and I want to get ONE Hakuoki game, what is the best one?

Should be the PS3 one unless the mobile version is somehow better, which I highly doubt. It's basically everything the PSP and 3DS releases are and then some. Those are all the same game; the only Hakuoki available in the US that's an entirely different game is Warriors of the Shinsengumi on PSP, which is an action spin-off and...pretty mediocre, to be honest. But if you're really big on Dynasty Warriors, I suppose it's worth a try.
