Anyone here with experience regarding this one? Long story short, I'd like to buy an iPhone if this emulator allows me to run Android .apk files with little problem and at full speed on my PC. I've been hearing good things about it, but is it really worth it or should I just buy an Android phone/tablet instead?

While BlueStacks certainly does run programs, there are an awful lot of Android apps out there that'll rely on the interface being multitouch, which just can't be done with a mouse.

I tried it when it was relatively young, so it probably has been improved significantly in some ways by now. I didn't have much use for it because lacked certain features I was looking for, like some flexibility with screen options (didn't like the way it scaled). I also don't remember it as a particular clean app, but rather one of those that "Infests" the registry, which I absolutely don't appreciate with emulators.

I've been having some troubles with BlueStacks. First I wanted to get the Amazon app store installed (to take advantage of those times when Amazon makes vast swaths of Android software available for free), but I kept getting strange errors. Then I wanted to setup an Instagram account, but again I kept getting strange errors about proxies that seemed insurmountable. Also, there seems to be no way to emulate a camera using a video capture device. It seems there are alternatives such as AmiDUOS that are superior, but I have yet to investigate.

Does Bluestacks work okay with Snapchat? A lot of my friends use either that or Instagram, yet my phone is super old and shitty and has no free space on it (just the updated factory-installed apps, which I can't delete, take up all the room that's available), so I can't use Snapchat on my phone. There also doesn't seem to be a PC interface for Snapchat available officially, which is annoying.

I used MEmu. Not only it's lightweight comparing to other android emulators I used, but it doesn't require the installation of a virtual machine as well. You can also do drag and drop installation of files. I think this is the best one IMO since its very easy to use and test stuff on. You can directly connect it to your android phone I think too. I don't know a whole lot about it since I used it for a few simple tasked such as playing games and getting used to navigating Android OS.

Up until a few months ago I had an LG Optimus One I had rooted to delete almost all the factory apps. Later, when the Google Services app kept growing and growing, I created a partition in my SD card where I could store apps with the help of Link2SD. A word of warning about Bluestacks (and possibly other Android emulators), some [online] games might think you're hacking and ban you.
