Kinda wonder what the point of the close-ups are it there is zero extra detail on the characters. Either put some effort in better character portraits/close-up sprites or don't do it at all.

It's just a presentation touch. I need to update this later because I discovered a really amazing easter egg. If you travel far enough, you can discover that the entire game is a movie shoot, and then things go CRAZY.

I love how they look......It's a matter of taste, isn't it? And thanks for the article, didn't hear about it before, sounds really cool! I think the problem nowadays is, sites like HG101 are really needed, because there are so many awesome and way more crappy indie games coming out, it is becoming harder and harder to catch up...

It's a real crapshoot, but as long as the developers tried putting in effort or worked with an original idea, I believe there's something of value even in failure. That's what I like about indie gaming; even if you find something bad, it may be memorable in some way. You know, as long as it's not made by talentless hacks who booted up a free copy of Unity and decided to resell starter packs.

I guess we are on the same page here, problem is, I like supporting art with money. But the amount I have is very limited... Adding to this, there are many original ideas for free or with the pay what you like model out there- with them, I'm ok with getting a weird, disjointed, yet still interesting idea..but when I pay like 5 € on steam or GOG, I want something that is not totally rough around all edges and provides enjoyment or at least interest for more than 10 minutes.

You can try itch.io, it's an indie gaming storefront that has a lot of developers selling their work dirt cheap, or allowing players to decide their price.
