According to Wikipedia, John Romero released the ROM for free. However, I can't seem to find it on any of his recent web sites. It doesn't seem like content was ported over from rome.ro to either romero.com/ or planetromero.com/, and www.johnromero.com/ doesn't load anything. Romero released the GBC Daikatana ROM specifically? Uuuugh I wish I had known before it disappeared! Maybe he might put it up again if someone contacted him? EDIT: I just emailed him; let's see if he responds.

It's out there by "other" means if you're into that.

Yay!
All 3 of these look awesome.
Are people planning on playing the 'original' versions as well?

It might be fun to give the PC Daikatana a try, too. Hopefully gonna have more time this month. As for Daikatana, I was gonna try and pick up a copy but the place wouldn't ship to us septics. Gordon Bennett... Anyway I can try out my Gameboy Everdrive finally.

Unless he meant the (apparently actually released in Europe and only Europe) GBC version.

True! I could have sworn the GBC version was a freeby with the GOG version, but it seems not.

The Turok games became side-scrolling platformers on the GBC.

The Turok games became side-scrolling platformers on the GBC. And they were actually pretty good, not amazing but alright.

They featured levels where you play in your civvies and hold SELECT to use your..uh.. hunter.. vision.. thing to see who was actually a lizardperson. As a kid, I liked Bart vs. The Space Mutants, so I thought this was a great mechanic.

Is there a winner yet?

Not officially, but Daikatana is winning by a landslide so far, so you might as well get set for that. Unless we get a rush of people who'd rather play Willow like right now.

The poll was supposed to end on September 1st, which would make Daikatana the winner. I think Sotenga just forgot to update the thread. :p
