Really? I don't remember there being a stage-type arena, at least in Soul Calibur II (the lone one I've played, admittedly).

I don't know if PuLiRuLa is technically set on a stage so I might be pushing it with this one but all of the backgrounds definitely come off looking like sets in a really interesting way. Well if it's not technically accurate it's still worth checking out.

And it's theorized that Super Mario Bros. 3 is set on a stage. (Look it up sometime.) I don't know why people theorize that. It's just a cute touch for the intro/credits, but the internet always wants to look too deep into things. Yeah, I know it's more than that, but for every reason people call it a stage play you can find things that prove the exact opposite. Apparently, Miyamoto just confirmed that it is.

Not sure what to think of it though.

I mean it seems pretty darn clear to me from the aesthetic design that it's supposed to be a set.

I recall Miyamoto called the characters "Actors and Actresses" before. It can mean Lakitu camera in Mario 64 meant that game was being filmed on location. The sports games and Mario Kart are the actors and actresses playing with each other and being friends/rivals.

They need to pull an Altered Beast one of these days and have an ending where Bowser is just some dude in a costume, lol. Of course, that would just open even MORE cans of worms about Birdo...

He's made of a bunch of Toads stacked on top of each other. On that note, Bowser in Luigi's Mansion is very much a Kaiju costume now.

I still want a Mario game where you work your way towards Bowser the whole game, and when you get there, he just gets his face wrecked by Donkey Kong and you have to deal with him instead.
