Besides CCS64, what's a good emulator for the C64 in general?

Micro64 is a C64 emulator that aims to be 100% accurate, down to the half-cycle.

I use Hoxs64. That is, its the first choice of emulator in my Gamebase set-up, but it does its job accurately, its easy to use and I haven't had any problems with it compared to CCS64, which never seems to want to remember my settings.

Thanks everyone! Hoxs64 ended up being the best for me thank you too TheChosen. Now I want to run MSX games, I have RuMSX and BlueMSX. Both seem great except when I try to run a .dsk instead of a cartridge/tape BlueMSX's emulation locks up and has to be reset. RuMSX does not recognize them as MSX disk images. I tried a few different ones and get the same results, have made sure the right version of the MSX is being emulated, etc. I get this same result even if I pop an actual MSX disk in and try to run it directly.

Can't really help with that particular problem, but you could also check the images with this tool www.lexlechz.at/en/software/DiskMgr.html I had several images that didn't work that were shown as empty by Disk Manager

I think VICE is the best. For ZX Spectrum, I prefer FUSE. And Speccy is also good. BTW, does anyone know how to run Acorn Atom games with Atomulator?

For Spectrum games, Spectaculator is pretty much your best option, but it isn't free.

OpenMSX handles .dsk files very well, and it's a lot more versatile and expandable for emulating many different platform configurations. I recommend keeping that and BlueMSX in your rotation.

As far as I know the best Amstrad CPC emulators are Caprice32 and CPCPE. For the Spectrum I mostly use ZXSpin and like the others said, WinVICE is the C64 emulator to go by. I use Hoxs64. That is, its the first choice of emulator in my Gamebase set-up, but it does its job accurately, its easy to use and I haven't had any problems with it compared to CCS64, which never seems to want to remember my settings. With the most recent shareware releases of CCS64 you need to manually create a c64.cfg file to keep saved settings.

Best CPC emulator is probably WinAPE.

More like only, sadly, as far as I know. Quick protip that I missed first time I started using it: When you load a ROM, make sure the little checkbox next to 'Auto Load File' is checked. You might think that's obvious, but I ended up missing it, so...

How do I switch disks/floppies on-the-fly on blueMSX? Aleste II asks me to insert disk 2 on Drive A after the title screen and even if I do so, it doesn't procceed to the weapon selection screen (which disk 3 is an exact copy of, strangely enough)...
